Quick Question: Ever since Canelo vs. Kovalev was made official, the idea of an Andre Ward comeback has been picking up steam. So my question is; what happens if Andre Ward came back to defeat Canelo without a tune up fight similar to Leonard defeating Hagler? What would you make of Ward's victory? Go :boxing:
Dre is the right age for sure - or will be by the time it comes around.
Meh. Honestly I'd rather see Dre stay retired and Canelo attempt to clean house at 160 or 168, rather than more showcase fights against faded elite fighters to build his legend. Not saying that these fights don't have a certain intrigue, but that ain't what it should be about for my money.

Idk about that one. I think he could make his biggest check of his career coming back if he could get the right fight. Folks love the comeback regardless if they love talking sh^t about it at the same time.
But yea Id rather see him stay out. I like the get out stay out story. Still rooting on Maidana staying done.
There you go , I feel the exact same way about Maidana
Ward to smart to not come back
He knows it would take much fughin work
I think he is enjoying him commentating gig
He’s behind the scenes lol
I think you're right. Or I hope you are. I like the current Dre story of him being undefeated since his balls dropped & outta the game. Out of the ring Dre is far more fun & interesting than in the ring Dre as well so Im enjoying Dre being open & more outgoing these days unlike most of his boxing career.
I think the path least taken of getting out on top & early-ish needs to happen more in boxing & I suspect with more becoming known about brain injuries that will start happening more & more.
I really believe he is enjoying his new gig as commentator
He’s actually not bad until he loses himself
Him coming back would be a fughin waste of time , as everyone would say if he loses that he’s old etc etc
Nothing to prove and pretty sure he’s alright financially
He is suing Lloyd's claiming his retirement was forced due to a knee injury. Which we all know is bs.
... he is seeking to collect some $6.3 million from Lloyds Of London, for a knee injury he allegedly suffered before the first Kovalev fight... :)
Ward is not a young man anymore. He cannot keep retiring, taking years off and then coming back, before too long he will end his career just like Sugar Ray Leonard. BTW, he can't come back or he will risk losing that multi- million dollar insurance lawsuit.
What insurance lawsuit?
Ward has never fought a slick brother like Canelo
Ward has made his career on fighting guys who were just terrible inside fighters. Canelo is a great inside fighter so he would deal with Ward's inside tactics much better than all of Ward's previous opponents.
Since this is fantasy fight match-ups. Toney vs Ward. Toney's great inside game dismantles and destroys Ward's inside holding and hitting game.

Damn, have we really run out of fights and active fighters to talk about? So much so we are pulling hypotheticals on retired fighters who've turned down big bucks to come back and fight already? Leave Ward to his announcer gig where he's happy and healthy.
Hey I just read your post and I wanted your thoughts on Canelo vs Errol Spence?

It would be a great win for Ward. I think Ward is highly overrated and Canelo would beat him. The fight would be in Vegas and Ward would have to follow the rules and fight clean for a change. Canelo is a much better fighter and a clean fighter who doesn't need to hold his opponent to land his excellent combinations. He has too much hand speed, accuracy and skilled defense for Ward in my opinion.
Canelo would lose and people would say, "Of course he lost, but at least he tried."
And, life would go on.
Ward after a 2+ years lay off and knee issues... would be a different Ward I guess.
