The Deontay Wilder vs Luis Ortiz 2 rematch will be announced sometime this week.
But on which network?
Showtime PPV or FOX PPV?
Showtime has showed Wilders last few fights (including the first Ortiz fight.)
Fox has shown 2 Wilder fights.
Who gets it?
DAZN is the only newcomer with good production. Fox and ESPN have a long way to go.
You think ESPN has a long way to go? I submit otherwise, they've come a loooong way since the FNFs days, I'd say.
What is it about the production that could use some help? Just curious.
The horrible commentators on Fox don't deserve to call this fight.
It looks as though we'll be paying for it, so, I'd rather fork over my money for great commentating AND quality production at Showtime.
Fox is trash.
I don't really follow PPV buys, but is this likely to sell 200K, 300K?
If it sells 200K buys at $70 thats $14M total, 45% to the cable operators, thats less than $8M for network, promoter & fighters, at 300K its $11.5M.
Ortiz wouldn't fight Joshua for $7M, the general consensus seems he is getting $5M plus for this?
I just don't see how the numbers add up for this if Wilder gets $10M and Ortiz gets $5M and they don't sell 500K?
You gotta wonder what's going on with Showtime. 2019 is year 1 of 3 of their PBC contract. The contract called for one fight a month. The first 7 months had one PBC fight each but they had nothing in August, they're gonna have nothing in September, and nothing is scheduled for October-December. It throws some gas on the fire of those rumors that if Wilder-Ortiz II goes to FOX, they're getting out the PBC business.
Can Showtime get out it they have a 3 year agreement with them?
Chickens are coming home to roost.
This is what you get for crying lowball too much when the offer is coming from the other side of the street.
Why is this being a topic at all, is all I'm saying.
Ortiz alone expects to get at least $5 million for this fight
because Haymon advised him to turn down the AJ fight.
What is Espinoza going to do now?
He's already been overspending in every Wilder fight
just to keep him from crossing the street.
Loyalty doe.
Whoever is dumb enough to pay both fighters big bucks for this farce.
Ortiz turned down $7m to fight AJ. I hope he is not getting less than that.
Deyonce turned down $20m for the Breazeale fight to take less on Showtime.
Right now he could have been on $40m for fighting AJ if he hadn't lost. If he isn't then I would be seriously questioning my advisors. I suspect he isn't even getting $20m for this fight.
They both took this path of fighting for less money to duck the big hitter. I suspect Fox and Showtime are not breaking the bank for this one.
I think Fox cuz the first fight will be an easy sell since it was a classic fight with some controversy involved!
Wilder needs to be careful this year has been upset season in full effect and Ortiz has promised to rip the title away from Wilder’s unconscious body and he’s been training for months now!
Ppv buys should clock in at 200k tops
Fox PPV are doing bigger numbers if CBS gets very involved and promote the fight like Fox does maybe I can see it going to showtime
Wilder been all over Fox recently so my bet is on Fox PPV
