It's hard to go against the Mexican trio of Juan Manuel Marquez, Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales. They fought hard, often and weren't scared of losing or being the underdog. That's sorely missing in today's game.
I'd also add:
Felix Trinidad who's about the most entertaining fighter of that time and did the right thing. When he was on top he sought the challenges which makes it sad that Don King had him in the shadows all those years while Tito was dying to fight the elites.
Kostya Tszyu
Rafael Marquez
Joe Calzaghe
1 Ricardo Mayorga
2 Prince Naseem
3 Ike Ibeabuchi
4 Johnny Tapia
5 Chris Eubank sr
The president is a good pick...it would be interesting to see how his career would have played out if he didn’t lose his damn mind.
Tapia is another great pick.
good post !
Thanks! Your list is mighty formidable all around I must say as well. Some people may have posted names I like more but those 5 would probably shakeup boxing the best right now.
Everyone already said every name I would pick so I'll throw in an opponent, as opposed to a champ, just in case anyone of these guys needs a fighter at the last second.

Lennox Lewis
Felix Trinidad
Erik Morales
David Tua
Mike Tyson
Imagine Lewis, Tua and Mike Tyson against today's heavyweights, Yikes! for Wilder and the current crop of Heavyweights.
Erik Morales would be tearing s hit up.
Felix Trinidad would be fun to watch against fighters from 147 to 160.
