Holding your left that low so you can try the shoulder roll got pointless in a hurry . He kept eating rights all night .
Yes it was too low. He was trying to disguise the left hook...but opened himself up to too many rights
It's not a matter of fast enough...just the dynamics. You'll never be able to turn the shoulder fast enough to roll with a good double jab or a strong jab to the top of the head. Even if he used a high guard, Kovalev is that good to still get the jab through. Not even Ward could defend properly against it. Best way to fight Kova is what Yarde did in the 8th round and what Alvarez did in the first fight. Yarde started too late and burnt himself out

Shoulder roll is pointless if you keep eating one-two's and you couldn't come up with a left hook counter or right lead .
Yarde was better off with a high guard.
His face was mushed.
Yarde is not fast enough with the shoulder roll .

Congrats, are they going to give him a participation medal?
Exactly. The only thing Yarde really had was strength. He landed a good shot... but had none of the skills available to finish the job.
Disagree with Yarde's shoulder roll defence. The best attack against the shoulder roll is the jab. See DeLa Hoya vs Mayweather in the early going until he abandoned it. Kovalev has one of the best jabs I have ever seen and that's why he was effective against it. Yarde did change it up a bit, but he simply couldn't get past that powerful jab. Most other light heavies would have lots of problems with Yarde

He also ate a lot of one-two's because Yarde's shoulder roll defense was horrible .

Yeah he rabbit punched the heck out of him
They both rabbit punched each other, McClennan actually was the first to rabbit punch Benn in the first round several times leading to the first knockdown, although Benn was ducking low they were still technically unintentional rabbit punches but that enraged Benn and he began to retaliate with rabbit punches of his own.
And he also fought the worst version of Kovalev in the history of human kind
He maybe also received the most punches of anyone Kov has faced
True..........
Anthony Yarde did very well, but he should not of gassed like he did 'You would think with being the younger fighter he would have the better engine etc'.
Possibly this has nothing to do with his training, it is just that at elite level one of his drawbacks may have been unearthed.
But even still his stamina/endurance is fairly good.
