Julio Cesar Chavez, Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez, Ruben Olivares, Ricardo Lopez, Carlos Zarate, Humberto Gonzalez, Daniel Zaragoza, Vicente Saldivar, Rafael Herrera, Juan Zurita, Lauro Salas, Raul Macias, Jose Becerra,Salvador Sanchez too since he beat 3 HOF fighters in Nelson, Lopez, and Gomez and not only beat them, never letting them hear the final bell.
Kovalev is washed up
you dont become the "mexican GOAT" by beating a fighter who is a shadow of his former self
the Betterbiev-Gvozdyk winner is the real LHW king
if he beats him, then ginger is a real legend
That fighter who is a "shadow" of himself is still considered the consensus LHW champ with

If Kovalev takes care of Yarde would you still say he's washed up?

Honestly I had to google Lauro Salas, come on bro he have 58 loses in his record :pat:
On double checking Torres's record he was not the middleweight champ when he won the light heavyweight title but he was a middleweight contender when he won the light heavyweight title. I don't want to come off as a Canelo hater. I think he is a great fighter. But being the best Mexican fighter ever takes in a lot of territory. My favorite Mexican boxer was from Cuba. The great welterweight Jose Napoles who lived and fought in Mexico from the age of 22. As great as Canelo is I will never think he was better than Napoles. My eyes tell me he is not quite that good. For sure Canelo is one of the greatest Mexican boxers ever and I'll leave it at that.
I would say Ricardo Lopez is the greatest mexican ever. Above JCC Sr. Finito possessed a great ring IQ, great stamina and devastating power in both hands. He beat the crap out of filipinos, thais, japs, *****s, whoever crossed his path. While is true that Rosendo Alvarez gave him fits, Finito was a better fighter. He never got much recognition fighting on the lowest division. He was the complete package.
The moment he apologises for being a drug cheat and having paid off judges is the moment he can take a step in the right direction. If he beats Kovalev clean its another step in the right direction to clean his dirty name.
Kovalev is TWO weight classes bigger and is a champion
If Kovalev can't beat a middleweight then that would be embarrassing and he needs to retire ASAP. The boss isn't even a big middleweight.
Depends if there is a CW or rehydration clause, its not a full win if Kov is drained to get that payday.

Bossnelo doesn't need to fight those nobodies, he isn't a light heavy. You don't know a thing about boxing history. Moving up to fight only one 36 year old light heavy champion who is way past prime and has been KOed twice recently is no big deal. Other middleweights moved up and beat the best light heavyweight champ. In some cases the only champ in the days of only one champ per weight class and not 4 different champs so you could pick the weakest one. Middleweight champ Torres went straight to 175 to beat undisputed light heavyweight champ Willie Pastrano. Middleweight champ Dick Tiger went to 175 to beat champion Torres. Tommy Hearns who was once the welterweight champ went from 160 to 175 to beat light heavyweight champ Virgil Hill. It's been done before many times but you are so ignorant on boxing you act like Canelo hand picking the easiest 175 pound champion is some kind of first that has never been done before. Canelo is not the best Mexican boxer ever. Most people thought old GGG beat him twice and old Mayweather also beat him. If Canelo fights Kovalev he won't be a middleweight anymore. He will weigh just as much as Kovalev and you will never see him fight at 160 again. Beating Kovalev is no big deal unless he backs it up by beating the three better young undefeated 175 pound champions.

Dont get me wrong, a victory over Kovalev, even if it's the current faded version, would be a great W for Canelo.
just not enough to make him better than a Chavez or Salvador Sanchez in the eyes of the fans, mexican or otherwise
he'd need more than a great W for that, he'd need something legendary, like becoming the real LHW kingpin
