Absolutely not. Rankings don't work that way. they go one fight at a time. The only ones who go up or down are AJ and Ruiz. By your way of thinking Parker should go way up because he beat Ruiz and Whyte should go up because he beat Parker.
You make some very valid points. Styles do make fights and the "triad logic" has proven time and again not to be very effective. Just because fighter A beats fighter B, and fighter B beats fighter C, that doesn't necessarily mean that fighter A is better than fighter C. Several factors come into play, not the least of those being, styles.
That said however, there are numerous ranking establishments today using varied formulas, and they rarely ever all agree. BoxRec for example, borrows somewhat from the College Football ranking system, and the current Wins or Losses of a fighter will affect the ranking of anyone who has fought that fighter in the past. Andy Ruiz Jr. went from #14 to #1 on BoxRec so Dimitrenko and Parker, as well as anyone else he fought, will see their ranking changed as well. Not to the same degree, but to a lesser extent based on the algorithm. It appears Joshua going from #1 to #3 would have proportionately a lesser effect. Ultimately, it depends on the criteria or data used by each ranking system. The major sanctioning bodies often provide rankings that are difficult to understand or reconcile, as well.
At the end of the day, all ranking systems are subjective, and based on a measure of opinion. A fighter's true value is only as good as the next upset. Just ask Andy Ruiz, AJ, or Las Vegas. :cool2:
Wlad must be kicking himself some more. He had Joshua in exactly the same spot as Ruiz in that 3rd but didn't let em go. Ruiz has a better chin than Wlad, although still a great effort for a 41 y/o veteran.

Definitely.
And Parker beat Ruiz so he should now go up in the rankings.
And Joshua beat Parker so he should go up in the rankings.
But Joshua lost to Ruiz so he should go down in the rankings
and Parker lost to Joshua so he should also go down in the rankings
And Ruiz lost to Parker so he should go down in the rankings.
Definitely! Now we know Wilder is king and guys like Ortiz would have knocked out Joshua.
1 Fury/Wilder
2 Ortiz
3 Ruiz JR
4 Adam Kownacki
5 Joshua
6 Usyk
7 Rivas
8 Whyte
No styles make fights and fighters have good nights and off nights and things dont always go to plan. These fighters, Dillian Whyte for example was not put in to the number 1 WBC spot after the Joshua loss. Its what he has done since that has put him there and that has nothing to do with Anthony Joshua. You want to push him down the WBC rankings because Anthony Joshua lost to Andy Ruiz? That somehow does not seem right.
Should we be now taking the WBC belt off Deontay Wilder cuz he ducked Joshua? No, ofcourse not.
Takam took the fight on short notice like Ruiz. I had the fight even when the ref saved Joshua. Perhaps there is a good argument to move Joshua's opponents down because we thought Joshua was better.
I don’t even remember if I scored the Takam fight. It was a snore fest.
Tough to say. Joshua’s Resume has been getting exposed on its own. Ref assisted UK stoppage against Takam only for Chisora to show everyone how it’s done. Seven rounds against Breazeale while Wilder KO’s him in 150 seconds. Couldn’t knock down Parker, Whyte could.
And then he quits against Ruiz jr

I wonder if AJ really just couldn't find parker enough to knock him down...or he knew he was packing china and just played completely safe after old ass wlad dropped him

true......
meh...whyte is a borderline top 5 guy.....no need to drop him
but I always thought, for all the grief people gave wilder over Ortiz, povetkin was old n basically shot just as much...and parker just wasn't all that good
the rankings are the rankings...I think theyre mostly legit...the HW division just isn't very good.....at least we didn't think so...maybe ruiz is legit and now the top 5 has some cache......I think once you get outside the top 5-6 guys theres just a big drop off....more than in most divisions
