Haven't seen him since he got demolished by loma. Its a shame because i do believe walters could beat berchelt and farmer and mix it up with guys like gervonta. Anyone know what happened to the axeman?
On two different occasions last year he was scheduled to make a comeback and fight on top rank events but both times pulled out. I am not sure why. Top Rank may have given up on him by now.I saw an interview of his after he lost to lomachenko where he said he was training for an upcoming fight that was two years ago now with all the espn dates arum has I'm sure they have fights for him. walters doesn't want to fight.
He signed with Bob Arum. The 10+ fighters who have left him should let you know that’s a bad idea. Pacquio had to sue him to get his money against Matthyse walters hasn't said anything about trying to leave arum. show me where he says he's suing arum or wants to leave you are making up fantasy scenarios.
its a real shame he choose to give up boxing he was the one got me watching boxing again when he won in Jamaica before is title fight . he is my favourite fighter i cant understand why he would totally give up boxing , he would have bounce back and made several million since that lost . it is a part of sport we loose some times i guess he lost is soul in process a real shame i think he would beat most fighters in the division .
i think he was probably done after the draw with jason sosa. he came back for one final payday against loma and we all saw what happened.
pretty sure hes' done. that was in 2016

Victim of the ****ty fanbase of boxing, bullying the man for having a bad fight against a great fighter.
Probably the same thing happened to Joshua Clottey. Casuals can take you getting KTFO every time as long as you seem to give it your all in the ring. But quitting is a big No-No for them. It's a tough business for sure. For one moment, you think you may have survived the whole fight through cowardice only to find out your career might not.
Who wants to see you after quitting like that? Walters was crap. He did the right thing to never show his face again. Walters is the definition of a coward.
Be careful...you could hurt your hands hitting that keyboard so hard.

Duran quit....And plenty other legends/great fighters did tho
I found Walters to be one of those guys like Broner and Linares who leaves me scratching my head over the hype they receive. His main claim to fame was beating aging Darchinyan and Donaire who were fighting in a division they didn't belong. He's a capable fighter but nothing special in my eyes and looked lackluster against Sosa (even though he should have gotten the W) prior to Loma.
Seems like his heart wasn't in it.
I heard he is in Jamaica, lost the hunger for boxing. Got fat and enjoying his money with the ladies. I don't blame him. Getting hit in the face isn't fun to be honest. Especially when you have no fans calling you champ.
Rule of thumb, if a fighter is out for more than 18 months with no news that's the time to worry. It has been over 2 years. Nobody cares about him though, too bad. Maybe he will still come back like Viktor Postol eventually did.
It was a very bad performance against Lomachenko but I don't get the inactivity afterwards. I think he still had a lot to offer but if he's tied down to one of them Top Rank slave contracts then he's gonna have to wait that out. If not and he went up to 200+ lbs again then that's on him.

Loma happened. Made him quit not only in the fight, but his whole career...Mighta taken his soul for real. If he doesn't get back on it more sooner than later, he might just run himself right out of the game. Guy is so talented, I don't see why he couldn't get back to the elite level.
Loma ruins careers. Just look at all his opponents. GRJ trained derailed, Roman Martinez is basically retired, Walters is basically retired, Rigo hyped derailed, Linares gets knocked out by c level fighter next fight.
It's ridiculous how fighters end up after fighting him.
A shame what happened to him. Loma was the end, but his career went into a tailspin well before that. Crazy to think that he only fought 3 times after the destruction of Donaire. He never recovered from the terrible robbery against Sosa
