What prevents Canelo from dominating?

You're right you made me realize Canelo won all those 12-0 i must have been hating. No im not JMM unlike me or Canelo he has a dominant KO win against a fighter of caliber Canelo will never have on his resume. That might probably go down as one of the best wins for the last 20-30 yrs. Plus the manner of winning is so priceless every fighter wishes they have

I never seen a elite fighter like Canelo have a dominate or KO win of another top fighters like past greats or elite fighters now do. He also gets the benefit on the cards. I had Canelo vs Cotto 8-4 Canelo but score cards were wide. I had Canelo vs Lara 8-4 or 9-3 Lara and when they read that one wide score card everyone thought it was Lara's, nope Canelo. Both GGG fights i thought he lost. Trout was winning the first part of the fight. open scoring ruined it when they said Trout was down of course that had to effect him. Draw for the May fight I had the Canelo vs Jacobs fight 7-5 Canelo and that was the best judges did in a Canelo fight i seen. He seems to slow down in the second half of fights.

another thing i noticed vs jacobs is canelo is still trash at cutting the ring. and his stamina problems resurfaced he lost steam in the second half. jacobs got no credit for his great footwork or defense because hes not as flashy with it as canelo. dodging a blow with head movement looks more flashy then simply blocking it with your hands up. even though its same result judges will get swayed by the flashier guy

People say it's because he's fighting high level competition. But other fighters have fought high level opponents and dominated them. I think his style is physically demanding and that's why takes large portions or rounds off. Thus allowing his opponents to come back and keep the fights close.

This pretty much. Canelo fights elite level opponents so will never dominate. But he fights like he knows he will never get robbed because he will NEVER get robbed. Uhh he kinda went out there the last 3 rounds of GGG 1 knowing he might.

Marquez always suffered from this too TBH he never dominated any Pacquiao fights or the Barrera fight

Canelo does a whole lotta nothing. He uses a lot of upper body movement and throw one or two eye catching shots. His opponent misses a lot and he connects once or twice. Jacobs had Canelo against the ropes, threw about 20 punches, connected on about 8, Canelo hit him twice and the crowd goes crazy. The announcers praise Canelo for connecting with the more meaningful punches. On the flip side, Jacobs landed a monster overhand punch in a round that was fairly even, the same announcers say Jacobs can't win by landing one shot at a time. Plants a seed of doubt in the viewing audience of what Jacobs is actually doing. Canelo only has to look good to win. He's never in danger of getting KO'd. Even when he's buzzed he plays it off. The fact that he knows he's "protected" won't ever allow him to fight like he has something to lose. That in itself won't make someone fight "great."

Two things; -He's fought a lot of good fighters who aren't easy to dominate. He crushed the cans so it' snot like he never dominates. -He's not that much better than the higher level guys he fought, if at all. So, of course they were close fights.

If ginger was fighting complete cans like most of the other P4P fighters, pretty sure he'd look invincible too You don't dominate guys like GGG or prime Lara

The fact he's fighting elite fighters. Fought Trout at his best, Lara at his best, a very good version of Cotto, Golovkin and Jacobs top two MW at the moment besides himself. That's what keeps him from dominating. He's got the best resume in boxing and should be the #1 p4p fighter in the world. He's fought the best and beat them all except Mayweather.
