I think Instagram is good way to gauge how well known someone is to the public. To put it in perspective, here are some other fighters by Instagram followers.
Canelo: 4.4M
Crawford: 359K
Broner: 1M
Lomachenko: 1.3M
AJ: 8.5M
Fury: 1.6M
Golovkin: 3.4M
Errol Spence: 391K
Not bad for Wilder. Not bad at all. Look at GGG go. The third most followed boxer of all. So much hate on this board but the rest of the world loves him. Why so many follow that nasty Broner I don't know.
Neither is wilder. A lot of those followers will be because of his appearance on that wags show
No idea what WAGS is, but Ryan Garcia’s fanbase consists of 80% gay men, and that’s not hyperbole
There's women dressed in bikinis who have 10-20x that many followers.
I Agree he's not unknown in the boxing world and he's become semi known especially after the Fury fight to the casual and public world.
He's far from a superstar though which I just don't understand why....
I'm white English but I'll be the first to admit boxing was built on Black Americans and Boxing's biggest and best superstars have historically and still are Black American's.....
So why isn't a 6'8 209lb Black Heavyweight champion with a near 100% K.O ratio in 40 odd fights who swings with such venomous hurtful intent he literally jumps across the ring with each swing of his hand and twists like a tornado due to the power and strength of his momentum a MASSIVE ****ING SUPERSTAR????
WTF IS GOING ON?
I understand Fury, the constant underdog, white hope, surprisingly charismatic, actually a great boxer and comes back from adversity to win, possibly imo the best white heavyweight ever with maybe Vitali having a shot at him. So.Fury I understand.
Anthony Joshua....he has the hype and exposure WILDER SHOULD HAVE. AJ is a modern day Frank Bruno or at best a lesser man's Wladimir who let's his hands go a bit more. I really don't see him beating Wilder or Fury, his best chance is outboxing Wilder by jab and running the whole night and walking him into cheeky right hands and pray he avoids having his chin touched.
I don't see what possible chance in this world he has against Fury who will do to AJ what he did to Wlad only even easier because AJ hasn't got Wlads defence.
Too long and didn't read? I can't explain why Wilder isn't a massive superstar, he has every attribute necessary.

And how many of those followers bought his last PPV?
That’s what I thought
Hearn goes to Manhattan, asks ten lawyers in suits if they know Deontay, and claims this is evidence that nobody knows him in America.
He should try that again in Atlanta, Jackson, Detroit, Birmingham, or Savannah.
