Gervonta Davis needed an extra half hour to make weight Friday for his World Boxing Association super featherweight world title defense against veteran and former world champion Hugo Ruiz. Davis, unbeaten with a record of 20-0 with 19 knockouts, came in at 130.2 pounds in his first appearance on the scale, but returned to weigh in under the 130-pound limit at 129.8. Ruiz just fought 3 weeks ago. And they couldn’t find Davis an fresher opponent out of all of the a and b level competitive pool?!?! Ruiz makes nice back to back paychecks so good for him.
Didnt know that Korobov was a welterweight who got knocked out a couple times at welterweight??? TMT might be the worst promotional company ever.
They may be dangerously derelict but the crown for worst promotional company is still atop Roc Nation's incompetent dome.
Haymon and May weather should be ashamed of putting on fights like this.
Surely his resume is padded enough time to start making the real fights.
At least he's fighting 3 times this year but we better get something better than Ruiz.
In fact I don't think they could get a easier fight if they tried for were he's at.
Isn’t this guy a last minute replacement? He was never their first option.

Do not turn this into a hate thread
What should we turn it into? A thread of everyone betting on a career 118lb B list fighter against a 130lb (paper) champion?
There is no way to sell this... better just to shrug their shoulders and acknowledge that late replacements are rarely up to much.
True but Korobov was dangerous though for a last minute replacement.
I'm assuming Ellerbe's target audience is the Saturday night fans, cos there is no way to sell this to anyone who follows the sport with more than a passing interest. IMO it would be better just to shrug their shoulders and acknowledge that late replacements are rarely up to much, but then I ain't the one trying to make money offa this shit.
Cause hes killing himself to avoid being in it. Let me guess youll have more excuses if they end up in same division
Look I wanna see the fight it's gonna happen
how is it unjustified? he's fighting a guy who failed to make it at the elite level at 118 and 122. why wold yo be concerned now fighting him at 130? it was a stupid comment to promote a very bad fight. you can't see you are being conned? well i guess this is how they make their money. get peoplle to get mad at the people pointing out bad fights instead of being mad at the bad fights. i'm jealous that he's making a million to fight a small bum? damn right thats the life!
Damn right that's the life, brotha!
Davis isn't in Loma's division. Don't you want that fight? Or is Davis that good? I don't get it.
Davis is probably bigger than Loma and they were both in the same division about a year ago. Stop making excuses for your boy. In Hugo Ruiz last legit fight he was KO'd at Super Bantamweight. Tank never even fought anywhere near that division.

well when they were in the same division tank ran away so now its just fun to prod him. no the fight doesnt have to happen but tank wont fight the other top guys in his own division so we shouldnt expect him to move up
