Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Danny Jacobs will put their world middleweight titles on the line in a May 4 unification bout, the fighters confirmed last week. Canelo, who defeated Gennady Golovkin in a rematch last September, is the reigning WBC and WBA middleweight champion. Jacobs holds the IBF's version of the 160-pound title. Click Here To Read More]
Lara has only himself to blame for that loss. He went from boxing beautifully off the back foot, countering Canelo at will and making him look clumsy to straight up running and not throwing punches.
He hadn’t built up enough of a lead to do that, in close fights you have to take risks to be great. You don’t deserve to win if you’re reluctant to throw because you’ve felt your opponents power, if you don’t leave it all in their don’t complain about the outcome.
We disagree in another thread I guess lol, but I agree with you here. I had Lara ahead 5-3 then Canelo won the last 4 for me.
many people thought GGG won both fights, so even if Jacobs has better tools than GGG, he needs to knock out Canelo, but Jacobs isn't a bigger puncher than GGG...
Many people do not know how to score fights also
this version of canelo isnt the same young kid that fought floyd or lara, neither jacobs has the defensive talent of those two... still should be a good fight...
That is so true.
Kind of don't care how this fighter did against that fighter or all this trudging up of crooked judges. Jacobs has to train to fight a really excellent, in his prime superstar. He needs to adjust for Alvarez, and not worry about judging (his team needs to ensure the judges are good for him) or about the past Golovkin fights or anything else.
Jacobs has the tools to beat Alvarez. He will not be the favorite and he should not be, but he has the tools. But he better have a plan "A" and then a plan "B" just in case, because I do not see anyway he gets a KO so he needs to really win a ton of rounds. That is a tall order.
As a canelo fan canelo is beatable Lara should've got a draw atleast against Canelo and GGG won the first fight against Canelo now the 2nd fight Canelo won that one. So the blue print is there to beat him fight like a matador with athletism like Mayweather n Lara (with a lil bit more activity) or if fight like a bull like GGG did the first fight.this version of canelo isnt the same young kid that fought floyd or lara, neither jacobs has the defensive talent of those two... still should be a good fight...

:lol1: He is straight dreaming or bringing his own judges.
Saul "Canelo" Opponents who face Canelo are usually in fear of the judges. In a fight where Canelo was dominated by Floyd Mayweather - one judge scored it a draw. And Golovkin was widely viewed as the winner of his first bout with Canelo, and that bout was scored as a split draw.Click Here To Read More]
I wonder why??? I give Jacobs an outside chance to win in the ring, but there's no way he can beat the judges in a Canelo fight.
This is tough tough fight for both men. Both went to war with GGG and both had cases they won their respective fights against GGG, with Canelo obviously getting the nod this past September. I see the youth and class of Canelo coming through in this one, nothing can really stop him now he is the king at 160.
Canelo is in for a Rude Awakening. ..
I give him credit for taking this fight...GGG was in No big rush to fight Jacobs Again....and for good reasons..
Canelo hit GGG but he couldn't do something Jacobs could do to GGG...
Wait For It!.....
Jacobs had GGG Backing Up once he felt Jacobs POWER!
What will Canelo do..once he get Hit by Jacobs?.....
Style wise Jacobs is a tougher match up for Canelo than GGG because unlike Golovkin he can fight well moving backward. If he can put everything together I think he's got a good shot at beating Canelo.
Let's see how he does when he doesn't fight as a LHW.
He might have some physical advantages over GGG but he definitely doesn't have GGG's chin. We have see Jacobs hurt many times, wobbled, dropped and even KO'd. GGG face was falling apart can Jacobs take those same shots and remain standing?
Stylistically it will come down to how Jacobs wants to fight if he gets on his bike canelo will stalk and abuse him to the body. If he comes at Canelo too aggressive he opens himself up to counters and it could be a highlight reel Kirkland style KO. Canelo had GGG pulling a No Mas on all that Mexican Style talk for a reason and he hits harder and can take more punches then Jacobs.

I like Jacobs but he won’t win this fight. Canelo is in his prime and Jacobs is a bit past it. Will be a good scrap to watch but I have Canelo by TKO in the 10th.

DJ has a Khan chin, comes in at light heavyweight, and is taller than GGG. However, he’s not even close to being as good as GGG. He can’t hit as hard as him neither. DJ was ko’D by Pirog, dropped twice by Mora, dropped once and ran from GGG, best wins were against Quillin and his stablemate who he went life and death with recently. Canelo has also faced way better opponents than DJ. Examples: Cotto and Mayweather. Fought GGG twice. I have no doubt Canelo will win competitively and legitimately in this fight.
How does losing to Floyd help your resume? I think losing to GGG is better for both of their resumes.
