In a way this is all fantasy boxing spiel but say you could pick a trainer to turn this guy, into well something else.
I'll start with Teddy Atlas. Man oh man could that guy summon the fire where certain fighters couldn't do it themselves. Some say he's overrated, a bit rudimentary, but you know what? That's exactly what Broner needs. Conventional wisdom says Teddy would never train a showboat clown like him. But he's definitely a guy who likes the longshot. Could he make Broner a World Champion again? Could Broner divest from his circus lifestyle and dedicate himself to Atlas' rules?
Robert Garcia. Wasn't it after one of his fighters lost to Maidana that they recruited him under their gym? I remember back when he destroyed Broner it was the talk around boxing. How Robert molded Maidana into a fine tuned bulldozer. Then right after he gives Floyd the fight of his life when everyone was predicting a pathetic mismatch. (Everyone was *****ting on Floyd over picking Madaina and ducking Khan)
What happened to Adam Booth? People can say what they want about Booth and Haye but gd when the Haymaker was at his peak, he was like the next best thing. Maybe more credit is deserved to Haye for marketing himself but the style Booth created for him was sensational. Wide legged outside fighter with a controlling jab and a rear ****ed right hand. And when that hair trigger is activated, that consistently thrown overhand right would rock anybody to their boots. The secret is how hard it is to defend against a zeroed in overhand right. Just ask Floyd. That being said Booths fighters Haye and Groves signature style has been more or less exposed over the years. Beyond that Booth might have what it takes to turn Broner into a winner.
Ben Davidson is a shining light in the boxing trainer world. Total dedication to understanding every facet of the sport and what needs to be understood to bring the best out of his pupils. Namely Tyson Fury. Talk about a comeback. "Reinventing" oneself doesn't do Fury justice. More like a spiritual awakening. Bringing him down to earth as one of the most genuine and real people in the sport. I'm sure his palette is full dealing with Fury. But if there was a longshot that could pay out as an even bigger comeback.. imagine what a adequately trained Broner on his way back up could become. Because I mean come on. Broner has no where to go but up. That or his career will faze into oblivion fighting no hopers.
I'd have him go with somebody like Freddy Roach or Joe Goossen, i.e. an offensive-minded coach. Broner is good defensively, he just needs more offence. He also needs somebody who won't take his nonsense. Somebody who will be straight up and honest. He doesn't need another yes-man telling him he's winning rounds when he isn't.
Once upon a time Broner used to have good offence, but then he started trying to copy Mayweather's style, boxing defensively with the shoulder roll and trying to potshot his way to victory. The problem with that is that it only works if you win the rounds clearly, i.e. making the guy miss and countering him with flush, attention-grabbing punches. That's the difference between him and Mayweather, and that's what he doesn't seem to grasp as to why he doesn't get the same results when the scorecards are read out.
This. I was going to say an offensive minded coach too. Roach would be good or maybe Robert Garcia. If Broner had a lot higher punch output I think he would have for sure beat Vargas & had a much higher chance against a 40 year old Pacquiao.
There is an old saw in martial arts: "No matter how good your teacher is, when you are in the mix, he cannot fight for you."
Broner cannot get off his punches at the world class level. They will make excuses for him perpetually but it is a flaw. hes tried, I believe he has... he was in good shape, but unfortunately he cannot throw enough punches, or generate enough power to win at a weight he can fight at now.
Teddy Atlas! I think Teddy would be brutally honest with him and tell him is biggest problem, probably the only one that would be honestly with him...
Teddy knows what his problem is and now looking back on this video he nailed it...MENTAL! AB have to get right mentally to be a good fighter. Maybe a Sports Psychologist or something? :dunno: I don't think he will ever live up to the expectations he once had that is done but he could potentially become world champion again BUT for whatever reason he just cannot let his hands go and he literally has 2 Punches (Left Hook, Straight Right...Repeat All Fight). No Jab, No Uppercuts, No Inside Game, No Body Work. Does have a excellent CHIN though I will give him that which makes it even more confusing as to why exactly this guy doesn't let his hands go when he has a GREAT CHIN
So it's Ann Wolfe's fault Kirkland's career ended up like it did ?
Kirkland has 2 losses . One to Ishida which i blame on Kirkland's Iffy chin . The other loss was in a million dollar fight against Canelo ( who'd I'd label as a pretty good fighter ) .
Plus . Anne Wolfe would run camp like a drill sergeant . Spitting in your face while screaming that you need to work harder .
no female is gonna tell broner what to do so the thought of broner and ann wolfe hooking up together goes out the window! if broner is not listening to these grown ass dudes, you think he's gonna let some female come in and boss him around? kirkland's personality is completely different from broner, that's how kirkland was able to make it work with wolfe.
How did Kirklands career pan out ?
She would kill Broner in training camp before his opponent could in the ring.

Ann Wolfe.
Gotta give it to you . Instead of going with the Flavor of the month as a trainer (like some on here). You actually chose someone who I agree would be the Best fit for Broner .
Respect .
Broner is suffering from same same problem as Kovalev, he doesn’t listen. Doesn’t matter who coaches him if he is undicplined. If he takes boxing more seriously I can see Buddy McGirt or Naazim Richardson being a good match for him.
i think they both can be change. they just need to get with a trainer who is tough and straight forward. if kov and broner gets put in their place and are told that they aint really shiiet so they better listen up, i bet you they will.
the thing is that nobody so far has put them in their place. everyone so far has been a "yes sir" type to them. broner and kov needs to hear the truth that they are not really all that great of a fighter, but they can be a lot better if they would listen. that's why they need to hear.
I actually thought Adrien Broner fought to the best of his abilities, unfortunately, that was nothing compared to a past prime Pacquiao. He never did throw a lot of punches, this is the fighter he is. He was never as good as the hype he received. He looked good beating Demarco, but even prior to that he had some very tough fights early in his career exposing weaknesses in his game.
His corner on Saturday however was too complacent and happy to just coast, straight to UD loss that was evident by all (except Broner)
like i said, the corner was too scared to say anything. this is why im saying broner needs to get with a trainer who is not afraid to tell broner the truth! and that's floyd sr. nobody is as straight forward as sr.

Cunningham, and others on your list are more suited to train fast, explosive, and mobile fighters, which Broner hardly is.
So bonehead would benefit most from training with Garcia. With his power, chin, and inside skills, he's at his best when moving forward. Garcia would train him to make the most out of those skills.
