This kid got the skills, power, and charisma of a Mike Tyson. The 130/135 lb scene is going to be full of names in the next 2 years for Davis to feed off on. If Davis team wants to his next 3 fights can be on PPV with Lomachenko, Berchelt, and Farmer & imo all of them fights are thriller fights which I think Davis could win!
As someone already said, he's too small. Even the UFC struggles to promote their 125 and 135 lb weight classes. With boxing, it would be the same if not worse. If he was a welterweight, that'd be a different story. But for anyone south of 147, it's going to be near impossible to be a PPV attraction.
P4P king? Maybe. He's only 24 so he has upside but I feel like he'll max out at 135 due to his style.
He needs to shut his mouth and put in the work which it looks like he doesn't seem to be doing. The clique that Broner belongs to is no good especially for your career. Look at Jleon he even realized it and bailed but it's too late for him. Bdou Jack saw it and left in time. Partying is fine but don't party like your Mayweather until you gain that recognition for your self by winning big fights. It's like they are being spoiled too early. I see the Charlos, Spence, and Robert Easter Jr partying with the same people. Its especially disappointing to see Spence hang out with that clique.
People around his age that he should fight
- Devin Haney
- Zaur Abdullaev
- Gustavo Daniel Lemos
- Alfredo Santiago
- Teofimo Lopez
- Felix Verdejo
- Oscar Duarte
- William Zepeda
- Ryan Garcia
^^ Get in there
With the right amount of fights, the right fights yes absolutely.
it takes lightning in a bottle to get a lightweight on ppv. davis doesn't have hte personality for it. the guy is dumb as they come. all he's really got going for him to appeal to the casual is power. he's a very skilled and dangerous fighter but it i will take a lot more than what he brings to the table to get to PPV regularly at 135 lbs.
dude is 24 and hasn't fought any top tier boxers, also didn't he hide from Loma?
dude is talking about being a PPV when he's barely headlining he's first card.
no he cannot
he's too small, doesn't have a good style / build for a long career and moving up in weight.
his people don't agree with you, either. they don't even think he can beat vasyl lomachenko. they are waiting for him to get old!
i like how he fights and he is decent but thats as far as it goes he doesnt seem to have the mentality to work hard and stay in shape like a pro plus he is limited how far he can move up the guys tiny in height
Meh. I don't see anything special with the guy. He is a carbon-copy of Broner at 130lbs-135lbs: A flashy counter-puncher with major character flaws. He gets hit very clean and often, his power is overrated and he has a low-ring IQ. However -- I could be wrong about the guy -- that is why I want to see him fight the top guys at 130lbs -- Machado, Berchelt, Farmer and obviously Lomachenko.
We can say this literally about just any fighter that goes pro. Let me ask you this.."Does Gervonta have the temperance to actually pull it off?"
In my opinion he does not, when you are getting in trouble as a barely known fighter and talking about shooting people over stupid ishhh, then get plucked out of your comfort zone, get a house bought for you to keep you out of trouble and you still can't let that life go...it screams AB 2.0 loudly.
I think he's a special fighter who will be in the P4P argument soon, as long as he stays away from people like Broner. The PPV situation at the moment is tough and he'll find that harder.

He is a hell of a puncher. But has to beat those guys you named and they are pretty damn good themselves. He is a nicer guy than Tyson. He never bit anybody, or went to prison for rape. He never said he would eat anyone's children or drive their nose bone into their brain. That's the Tyson charisma. A scary guy. I like Davis. He seems to be one of the best young champions.
He definitely can. He should get in with lomachenko next that catapult him to stardom
Of course we know that won’t happen but yeah if he wants to be a star that’s the man he’ll need to go through.
For him to be a PPV fighter, he better beat someone like Lomachenko to get there. But the LW division is going to be booming with some big names for years to come so he may get his shot once he moves up.
Soon to be there or potentially be there at LW in the near future: Davis/Lopez/Lomachenko/M.Garcia/R.Garcia/Balderas/Stevenson
Some potential big name opponents for Davis and just any of those guys to be honest. Golden era for the LW division?
