Tony Harrison dethroned World Boxing Council super welterweight world champion Jermell Charlo with a controversial unanimous decision Saturday that brought jeers from the Barclays Center crowd in Brooklyn. Previously unbeaten Charlo was the aggressor throughout, but neither fighter landed any devastating blows and the judges gave the all-American showdown to Harrison by scores of 116-112, 115-113 and 115-113 Click Here To Read More]
I was surprised Harrison lasted through the whole fight.
HE was getting killed out there. It was a straight robbery. Worst than either GGG/Canelo fight. And I was rooting for Harrison.
Nobody, including Lennox Lewis, Boom Boom Mancini & the commentators, the crowd, or the people watching at home had Harrison winning that fight.
Harrison's jabbed nicely, feinted the hell outta Jermell. Kept him from getting in position then stepped off line. That ish worked..Charlo didn't throw any combinations.
Much props to Tony for keeping it classy but he didn't beat Charlo last night.
He was Fighting to survive, not to win. That's not how you beat a world champion.
He kept it classy? The dude dropped f bombs on fox in the post fight interview after being gifted the belt ffs. There is nothing classy about this guy. He got his ass whooped and outworked then cursed about 3 times in front of a national audience. I expect that from some rap barbarian, not from a pbc fighter....
Both Charlo Bros looked average last night. I feel like Jermell edged it out with the last two rounds but Harrison did snap Charlo's head back a few times. And if anyone of them arguably lost it was Jermall it looked like he was mentally out of it seeing his brother lose his belt. His trainer doesn't need to let him watch his brother before his fight. They need to be going over the gameplan in the locker room anyways! They both need to bounce back from these average performances lol
I'm not sure which announcer team was worse, ESPN or Fox/PBC. Mark Kriegel is absolutely terrible. He was referring to the "linear" champ and not the Lineal. He used terrible analogies and doesn't seem to understand the sport. Mancini should not be giving commentary nor should Lewis. The bias towards both brothers was incredibly pathetic. They hardly ever gave Harrison or Korobov credit for work they were doing. Right now Showtime has the best team and it's not even close.
Therr wasn't too many Times Tony was coming forward dictating the pace as he says he was.
"Dictating the pace" does not necessarily have to mean
"coming forward". It depends on the type of fight you are
trying to dictate or impose upon your opponent.
Mayweather, for example. dictated the pace of his fights
without having to be aggressive or "come forward".
The commentating for both fights were god awful. Both fighters were very close. I had it 7-5 Jermell, but I'm not mad at Tony winning. Charlo fought in one gear thinking him just showing up was enough for the win
But I was sick hearing the commentary from them..... I personally Thgt Tony won but as u stated 115-113 = Can go either way but guys saying Charlo got robbed or clearly won...... Sad
That wasn't announcing or analysis. That was cheerleading for PBC. This Al Haymon is the man behind the curtain. Wizard of Oz, all over again.
All I can say about the scoring is watch round 11 four or five times and tell me who won that round.
Who said anything about the 11th. I'm not talking about the official judges. I had Harrison winning 4 out of the first 5. Two more and it's a draw. Three out of the last 7 and it's 115-113.
You had me till the last sentence. Canelo fcks both these boys up and yes I hope Canelo picks him..... Canelo isn't MK canelo will go to charlo body and is more compact and is a natural counter puncher..... My opinion. Ducking lol after last night and being in ring with Ggg2x Floyd Cotto Lara........ U joking right........
Whether Canelo is ducking Jermall and whether Canelo can beat him are 2 separate discussions (believe it or not).
Cinnamon/jermall is a 50/50 fight that I wanna see. But he is clearly ducking that fight. Everything about his career choices past and present tell me that he will continue to do so for at least another fight or 2. Or he'll just vacate the belt like he has done in the past.
Facing elite competition is a risk to managing public perception as well as future earnings. That's why cinnamon and golden boy try do so as little as possible. Everytime he has been in a 50/50 fight he's either lost straight up (Floyd, Lara and GGG 1) or it was a close debatable fight (trout, GGG2) IMO.
A fighter who has faced elite competition in the past is still capable of ducking in the present(for whatever reason; money, politics, fear etc.)
These fighters no longer get the benefit of the doubt from me. We've endured too many *****ty matchups to continue to tolerate it and defend these fighters. Enough of the bull*****- I want the best fighting the best now, not when they eventually get around to it.
Tony was fighting as the counter puncher and Jermell was making the action. Therr wasn't too many Times Tony was coming forward dictating the pace as he says he was.
Fighting as a counter pucher you have a few more options than ylu did as the aggressor. Still Tony wasn't enough. Not once do I remember Jermell on the ropes. It was Tony being backed on the ropes and worked.
I can’t lie I thought the 154 Charlo would give Hurd hell. **** was I wrong . Hurd defense still Suspect but man Harrison trout Lara back too back or whatever order he fought them in helped Hurd out massively . It’s clearer now in my eyes Hurd is number 1 at 154 after Charlo performance last night. **** I’ll say 1.hurd 2.lara(I’ll change this if CASTANO wins) 3.charlo (until munguia fight and if I see if he improved his game.)
I agree. The Charlo's were exposed. Every armchair idiot with a few beers in them swear they are boxing judges. Watch the fight with no volume and tell me that it was an easy win for Charlo. At best like I stated earlier, 115-113 for either guy or a draw.

Both fights were close. I felt more strongly about Korobov getting the decision than Harrison. Either way showcase bouts turned into an Unexpectedly entertaining night of boxing.
Jermell was going to fight once more before facing hurd anyway so Im expecting a charlo/Harrison rematch. And if Jermell doesnt Lay a f@#king egg I'll still get to watch Hurd b@#chslap jermell around the ring.
Jermall is still strong and dangerous but limited. I had trout beating him back when he was still at 154lbs. He was eating that straight left from korobov for most of the fight but had his moments as well so whatever... Cinnamon will still duck him because that's what fabricated ATG's do.

Unlike him..... No you dont....Both twins looked bad. Almost as bad as lennox and crew calling the fight.

I just watched the fight again. Most of the rounds were close and 115-113 for either guy or a draw was reasonable. Watch the fight with no volume. The announcing was clearly biased.
That was former boxer Lennox n crew.....
