Maltese, I don't remember the fight as it was in the 1964, but I used to go to an old boxing gym here (still open), and the owner fought the guy that fought Turpin as well. He has a lot of pictures even from the Turpin fight.
Bit before my time too, but that's the kinda story that brings these dudes to life, man.:boxing:
I hadda check, man. I ain't got the kinda brain that could leave a clue like than dangling... are you Maltese then? Or German maybe?

Y’all must really love boxing! I’m curious what was the official view count for the Wilder vs Fury fight over in the UK?
You kind of just get used to it. It’s never really bothered me tbh
Used to stay awake, now I wake up. For the Fury vs Wilder fight I woke up, but when Hatton used to fight, I used to stay awake or go out and watch it in a bar or something.
Nice Randy Turpin gif :) He fought in my country, almost his last fight.

Takes a really big fight to keep me up these days. More likely to wake up early :lol1:

Well I live in Europe..not Brittain so it's even 1 hour later in my country, less sleep. I stayed up for some big fights last year like Canelo vs Golovkin, Fury vs Wilder, Lomachenko vs Rigondeaux, Lomachenko vs Linares. If I really want to see a fight live I do it, if not I always watch the day after. We don't have boxing on TV here apart from AJ fights so I always have to catch it on a stream
When I watch fights from US, whether its Boxing, MMA or kickboxing, the main card usually starts at 4-5AM and the main event in 6-7AM so yeah.. But usually I do stay awake for the fights that I want to see. I got insomnia so its not like staying awake for long periods of time is new for me
This too. Back in 2011/12 when I started following the sport again big time I wasn't sleeping more than a couple hours even on a good night, so I was staying up watching boxing from all over the globe and it wasn't issue. Last coupla years I got a more normal sleep pattern (well - except for the baby coming, course) and I only really stay up for the bigger fights... even then it leaves me a shambling wreck the next day.:lol1:

Not every weekend anymore for me, but yeah. This is why it kinda makes me laugh when folk use terms like casuals and so forth... sure you might not agree with everything guys from the UK got to say but you gotta be serious about this sport if you follow it from this side of the Atlantic.
My dad had me up watching Tyson's fights when I was a kid. I carried on for all the big US fights.
Luckily I emigrated to Australia so now the UK fights are on a Sunday morning and the US fights are on a Sunday arvo. Perfect timing.
Mind you, me and my kids are up at least once a week watching soccer in the early hours. That's their equivalent of my childhood Iron Mike memories.
Yes. If it's a bit of a nothing fight then no, I'll just check the result in the morning. On average I'd watch the main event and the fight before, but if the card is great I'd watch more. Average start time of main event is around 4.30. Usually go to bed around 5.30/6.00 and wake up around 1pm as don't work Sundays. I love watching boxing. The rest of the day - I'd watch and follow football (soccer) games and scores. Watch a film or some TV show episodes and play the guitar, eat a good meal and just chill out.

More like 4am, and yes.... I do wake up to watch the big fights live
In Melbourne Australia we get the US fights at 11am Sunday morning and 1pm Sunday afternoon during daylight savings and get the British fights at either 3am or 5am Sunday mornings it's a big day when you have one in England and one in the states on the same day you end up pretty drunk and tired but it's a good day always look forward to it

Old before my time. same as m8....i use to religiously stay up and watch the era of lennox lewis and his dominat reign....started with my hero leonard's 2nd coming against hearns , lalonde.
I even use to get the trembles before the big fight during the staredown in the ring.
Morales, barrera, pacquaio, tyson you name it i was watching glued to the t.v
I used to stay up for them all, then get a few hours kip.
These days I record them and watch them on the Sunday. Unless it's a real good flight.
It's been good in recent years with some of our channels showing more boxing. I remember the only way to see some fights was a stream at 5am from a website with hundreds of pop ups and the picture so pixalated it looked like a Mega Drive game.
