Looks like the WBSS tourney is done due to money issues.

The first season lost a lot of money because they couldn't secure any tv deals to help finance it and had to stream the fights for free while having large production and Promotion costs and handing out huge fighter purses and winnings. They finally got a tv deal for season 2 with DAZN but they might be so deep in the hole they can't get out.
This is sad. I haven't been excited about the lower weight division ever until this tournament started.
I feel like boxing is run so stupidly if only the people in power was smarter it would be the biggest sport in the US right now.
yeah there were a lot of bad signs during the quarterfinals.
They streamed the fights on youtube for the UK and german markets, because they were not able to sell the broadcasting rights in time. I cant remember the real numbers, so dont quote me on that, but there were less than 10k viewers watching those fights on youtube for a couple of those shows in total. That cant have make enough money to justify the purses.I agree. Likewise, they had a lot of empty seats in the arena too. They couldn't do any numbers at the gate. The tickets at the live gate flopped.
For one the tournament didn't get a lot of support. They had trouble selling tickets to the viewing public. In addition, it was broadcast over the internet as opposed to a lineal platform which led to its quick demise.
