FOX is on board, rolling out the red carpet trying to push boxing back into the mainstream on regular television. Yet, PBC seems to be getting blasted for what they're trying to accomplished.
Obviously from the presser today FOX is really all into it. If marketed right, this will work.
Y'all better support this or by 2025 boxing will be gone from the public's eye all together.
If this fails it will be because of the boxing media and boxing fans pushing people away.
A lot are dogging these match ups. Did y'all think we were gonna see Thurman-Spence or something. None of the match ups are bad other than Santa Cruz-Flores.
But we have to see what Top Rank, Golden Boy and Matchroom bring to the table.
Who does Showtime have left? If all the welterweights and Charlo's have moved to Fox then that only leaves Wilder, Tank, Broner, Pacquiao and maybe Stevenson? Or will the whole PBC roster appear on both networks?
I think Spence-Garcia was always destined for PPV.
UFC was at it's absolute peak in what was that 2011.
And ESPN while good, didn't have anything like what FOX did and I don't think ESPN is goin all out. ESPN only brings up boxing the week before when they should be running stuff in the network daily.
I obviously hear you but can we imagine Stephen A. talking about boxing on a daily basis:no:
Don't know why people are complaining considering who Canelo is fighting and Hearn putting on **** like Miller vs Adamek, Whyte vs Chisora and Andrade v Kautondokwa
Yeah and people complained about miller vs Adamek as they rightfully should.
Whyte vs chisora was a perfectly good fight according to Americans when he was chasing wilder. “Whyte has chisora problems” remember that? I’m sure you have a selective memory doe. It’s a reasonable fight to make considering the first was both a classic and close and chisora is coming off a career best win.
You really going to blame Hearn for Andrade vs katuondokwa, seriously? You know full well why that happened.
Like I said I'm not really arguing boxing ISN'T doing a lot of backwards sh^t. But every year every almost other sport defines the best of their sport in a way that makes sense or certainly in a better way then boxing does. And I think that lack of a clearly defined best boxer in every division is a huge problem with casual fans finding the time for boxing. Know one who isn't watching boxing like most of us here do know who's the best reallllllllly in more than 1 or 2 divisions probably. And sh^t even we don't know for sure who's the best in some divisions thats how watered down boxing is. You can't water down a sport like boxing has watered down itself & not expect that to disinterest some fans.
Even at its peak, boxing wasn’t about the best fighting the best on an annual basis. That wasn’t what drove it down.
The narrowing of the audience did that. Now we have to build that audience back up. You do that by presenting the fighters to the biggest viewership audience and then building interest in them so when you put on a big fight...people actually know it’s a big fight.
I don't get this whole " PBC Fanboys " vs " DAZN Fanboy " shet . Some of the matchups should be pretty good fights .
its played out and makes it hard to even come to the site these days
It just seems like a whole lot of decent fights and no great ones, when if they'd just been matched up in a slightly different combination there could've easily been a bunch of great ones. I'll watch them all but I don't see anything worth staying up for (as a British boxing fan)
Oh I get it, let's blame PBC.
Where were you when BJS blatantly ducked Daniel Jacobs? You were quiet as a whore in Church. Now that BJS attempted to fight someone worth a damn on DAZN now you're praising the Lord with special thanks to your savior Eddie Hearn.
And lol at the the general public clamoring for Usyk vs Bellew
Jesus you guys are predictable... Wash and repeat the same routine for years
Why do you keep taking me off ignore yo respond to me.
You're a jerkoff, put me back on ignore please.
I honestly don’t doubt they lost money (the investors) but Al is a guy that knows how to get it done
Dude, when you invest money you don’t quantify it as a loss in the middle of the investment. Court documents show Haymon spent about $200-300 mil, if that. He received about $400-600m.
Showtime has probably been paying him about $3m a fight for the past three years. And now he has two network deals. So the loss thing is silly. Actually, it was silly to begin with because these investors knew a time buy doesn’t generate a return. So they were obviously playing the long game and now they’re about to reap the rewards.
Sure there is multiple reasons boxing is niche, but being the only sport that doesn't listen to its fans is a pretty huge one.
And every year the best play each other to end the season. The got everything locked in for that to happen. Boxing just keeps half assing us for years at a time before giving us the big fight in the division. WBSS is the best thing to happen to boxing in decades in my book. I just hope they keep doing 3, or dare I wish more, divisions every year.
NFL craps on fans yearly. I can’t think of a sport where fan requests are listened to. Maybe UFC which is a combat league and pays the workers much less.
I really don’t think the issue is listening to fans. What hurt boxing was it getting removed from network television. Even then there was PPV (closed circuit, etc). But once it left network TV entirely, that was the death blow.
Thats boxings problem in general, but PBC is pro level at it, it keeps edging & just loses its erection w/o ever cumming after awhile lol.
PBC gots a retarded roster yet they aren't even trying to make the big fights as often as they could almost FOUR years in. Im tired of this patience is a virtue bs.
Boxing is the only sport that does this backwards sh^t that keeps the sport at a niche level cuz casuals don't wanna watch all these bs matchups where the favorite is -1000 or higher to win.
That's exactly how I feel about Gervonta's inactivity. Total BS.
I just don't like that PBC is starting to do PPV's now. PPV has been terrible for the sport. I hoped that Canelo going to DAZN would end PPV boxing in the US but I was wrong.
Yea i was bummed to see PBC not dumping the model.
The porter fight is the only good fight. Uzcatequi is all right but instead of fighting Plant he should fight Truax. Guillen vs Truax no one wants to see that.
Oh God. That reddit article. Where is Mitchell Kane, big dunny, killakaki and the rest?
I remember Laces Up saying “they lost 500 million!” like the investors were playing short on a time buy :lol1:
Matter of fact, I was arguing with people on here months ago who said Fox would never give them a deal.

WBSS doesn’t have the big names though that's why they are making tournament in the same division
Super six showed why Tournaments doesn't work at high level short schedule people dropping out finding replacement on short notice etc...
Best you can hope for is 4 man tournament if you want the big names of the sport to be involved

ikr and then when the their "countdown to doomsday" deadline passed and PBC was still moving forward even through the lawsuits from tr & gb they slowly faded away but then adopted the same model of showcasing fights on premium network tv.
nobody said a word after the fact.
i love BOXING idc who diskributes the fights etc bc im NOT getting paid from none of it i just want to watch fights and be entertained by who the best is at each weight division
Oh I remember. This has been the routine for years. It goes back before you and I were even born let alone thought of
yup it manifested itself in Jack Johnson which actually gave birth to the "great white hope" phenomena which plagues the minds of whites in the united snakes mostly, but other europeon nations do the same as well and even the soviet union gets into the narrative from time to time but way less than other europeon nations.
now the next one has arrived and its usyk now after 15 professional fights dan rafael has stated that usyk after 15 fights is a greater CRUISERWEIGHT than evander holyfield who went to heavyweight at and became UNDISPUTED in the 3 belt era.
how can an individual who was basically a "professional amateur" who came out of the olympics a GROWN ADULT MALE and ONLY fought 15 fights be considered the greatest of all time?
this is what i have an issue with and thus the rivalry will NEVER subside. usyk i THOUGHT was like 24 years old when he beat bellew come to find out he was actually 31 and that took ALOT away from his luster. & to be honest who was bellew REALLY? he already got stopped in i believe 6 rounds by Adonis Stevenson at LHW then went up to cruiser got ONE belt from a TITLE holder and went to heavy. who in the hell is bellews best win for ppl to consider usyk THE BEST cruiserweight of ALL-TIME?
the narratives they push into public conscious is what drives the animosity for these fighters, that most blacks actually have NO problem with until certain people get behind these fighters and make it unbearable to like the fighters.
