Not gonna lie, i've been feeling more empathy towards fighters than i did when i was younger. Maybe it's because I can actually see the effects it has had on the older fighters i.e holyfield, or just a better understanding on head injuries. Similar to tim bradley in the twilight of his career, i'm struggling to watch sean porter fight. He takes some serious damage in most of his fights i've watched and can't have a long career fighting like that.
Are there any fighters you feel this way about, or is it all in the game?
Hughie Fury and Chris Eubank Jr.
Much like Khan...Eubank has delusions of grandeur but unlike Khan he has speed without skill. His ego is going to drive him into a bout where he is going to get a substantial beating.
Hughie on the other hand is quiet...but he is being driven by his family's gypsy pride and as such will at some point suffer the same fate.
I was shocked to hear earlier this year that HW Maurice Harris is still fighting, last fight was in July 2018 - some of you probably remember his war with Derrick Jefferson in the late 90s, classic HBO right there. He's 42 now, started in '93, been stopped 15 times. Not sure if I should be worried about his health because I haven't been following his career- was just surprised to see his name on a card
When he was active I worried more for his opponents. Briggs is old but he's one of the hardest hitters in recent years. After getting pummeled by Vitali in 2010 Briggs was literally teeing off on club fighters who had no business in the ring with him.
That beating he took from Vitali cost him nearly 4 years of his career.
Shannon Briggs, Hopefully he is now retired... IF not how does dude keep getting a license to fight.

Paulie Malignaggi as lucky af, to have taken the amount of punishment he has and still sounding coherent. Also isn't it better to be KO'd than to sustain damage over 12 (hence why ufc is safer than boxing??)
Yeah, I'd rather get KO'd clean than my face jabbed in over 12 rounds. It's the amount of impacts and times your brain gets moved around in your head - lots of small hits is worse than one big one.
I've seen fights at lower level where the guys just keep coming through it.
Eubank/Blackwell was a bad one.... the last fight I was begging the referee/corner to pull him out.
Rios is the next Bobby Chacon. He's gonna need a map to his house someday.
Manny Pac takes a lot of punches too. It's not showing any ill-effects right now but he really should quit now.
Same for Donaire.
i seen some old footage of Rios when he was about 17 and he sounded the same then. That was even before he was a pro.
i think that's just how he talks anyway, but he's definitely not helped matters.

This dude. He's gonna get hurt... more.
I know a 40 something year old pro that fought at the highest level (never won the belt though) who had to stop driving because hed forget where he was going. The last straw was when he had to pull off the side of the rode to call someone because he forgot his way home and was 5minutes away.
Boxing is no joke! Most people don't take into consideration the sparring a boxer does his/her whole life which to me is the biggest cause of the brain injuries.
This! I believe TV isn't a true reflection of how violent boxing is. I admit i used to take it for granted until i went to the local gym and saw two guys spar, I think most people would appreciate anyone who steps into that ring if they did.

I'd love to see a lot of mfers retire. I think if you are losing too many fights at any level they should be retiring you or sending you down a level just like you'd get kicked out of the NFL if you kept dropping passes or throwing interceptions or you'd get sent to the minors in baseball.
And I also believe anyone who's been legit KO'd should be suspended for 6-12mos automatically.
But yea there are definitely a lot of specific guys I'd like to have seen gone sooner or gone now. That Tapia guy seems punch drunk now. Bradley shouldn't have been allowed to fight after that Ruslan fight. I think the way Khan got slept vs Canelo looked bad & while I'm glad he stayed away from boxing for awhile I think he's well off enough to retire. And sh^t man I could name guys all day. Being KTFO is not some sh^t that should be happening to anyone in boxing more than a 3 or 4 times absolute max.
I believe the NSAC suspends them for 3 months with CT scan requirement for license renewal.
