What are you guys thoughts on this side of the business?
With the news of Canelo headed to DAZN, how does that news fair for the bars, clubs and movie theaters that would usually get a Canelo or any PPV fight?
I've gone to a bar to watch a PPV, and they would usually charge about $15. Well, that won't work if a DAZN subscription is only $9.99.
Same for night clubs. They increase the door price if there is a big fight.
Also, I know bars/clubs have to get some type of agreements to play PPVs. They have to pay a fee, I believe. So will DAZN/ESPN+ or whatever streaming service have to go thru simular loops?
I'm not sure how much Canelo-GGG was in theaters, but it's obviously not $9.99.
We're not sure if they're gonna increase the subscription price before a PPV?

I don't even know if bars/restaurants can get the app. Most that I know don't have Smart TV's with the capability.
Also, it will not be $9.99 for them, it will surely be more.
I've been to Hooters and they didn't have the app.
This is a real problem for fans that want to watch outside their house.
It's not about the money it's about fans who like watching fights in huge crowds. You get that watching the fight at a bar, club or movie theater. The question is how can we get that with fights on DAZN? Fans go to the bars to watch NFL games and those are aired on free broadcast Television in the US.
I'm joking but I get it I'm sure something will be worked out
Who Cares! Throw fight Parties and make money off of it yourself! :dunno:

But when the find out, yall gonna be watching another fight!
"Gimmie my money and beer back, now!"
It's $9.99. Ain't no more $85 Canelo PPVs for everyone to chip in on.
It don't effect us the consumer but it will effect the businesses.

This is the only draw back now that it's announced that DAZN signed Canelo to 365M contract. Watching fights is great at bars, movie theaters and clubs and they simply aren't set up for streaming. At some point in the future streaming will be everywhere but today that's not the case. And that's a lot of revenue you losing out on if you don't make your broadcast available to them. I remember for years Top Rank would air their own small independent PPVs that either HBO didn't want to be a part of or that Top Rank didn't want to pay HBO a fee for. And these PPVs were sold to Cable/Satellite providers. I bought one directly on my Comcast cable box back in the day. Why can't DAZN or Golden Boy do that and sell the fight/broadcast directly to Cable Satellite providers? So that they can be sold/aired through traditional PPV model for Bars, Clubs, Movie Theaters that are only set up with Cable/Satellite feeds.
I seriously doubt it. Depends if the business is willing to change their whole setup and swap to smart TVs or add streaming devices to tvs to get the app. It's more of an expense to business to do all that. Add to that the streaming speed needed to run all those devices connected to the business wifi connection
Won't work. U pretty much gotta stay home to watch DAZN fights. Bars and restaurants would have to change their whole system. That means swapping to smart TVs or adding firesticks or rokus to every tv. Add to that the cost and they would have to have large enough download speeds in order to be able to stream all those TVs or streaming devices at once. Seems like to much of a hassle and money for them to switch to that. Especially when they're already set-up to show more popular sports that bring in customers.
no idea, but considering how awful the wifi is at bars/restaurants/etc. they gotta step their game up. You think normal people get annoyed with buffering? Try drunk people.
I was wondering the same thing
PPV at Restaurant/ Bars PPV is based on their capacity
I wonder if DAZN just going to bypass that or figure something out
yeah I'm not sure how this works for the big PPVs like the one Canelo will certainly be in come Cinco De Mayo. I'm thinking DAZN airs Fielding fight live but for May 2019 Canelo goes back to traditional PPV and DAZN get's rights to Canelo's past fights and PPV replay like HBO user to air his replay a week later for HBO subscribers but if you wanted to see it live you needed to order the HBOPPV. Too much money involved in Canelo's big PPVs for me to see how DAZN works in those fights you losing out on movie theater, club, bar, vegas closed circuits and all these additional money streams that are still linked to traditional cable/satellite providers.
I'm not sure DAZN is goin the PPV route.
