1.1 mill according to ESPN. Less than the first fight. Still a good number but thought it wouldve been higher, tbh. HBO wont release figures cause Golden Boy is not allowing them to.
Canelo now involved in 3 of the 5 largest live gates in history. And has had 3 back to back to back 1M+ PPVs and sold over 8M PPVs in his career and he's not even 30 yet.
Do you guy's think a 3rd fight would do about the same? Better? Or worse? I'm curious, because this second fight was extremely entertaining and one of the best fights of the year. On the other hand, we all know people get salty when their man doesn't get the win, even if the fight was extremely close.
I would be willing to see a 3rd fight. Definitely worth the money, although I hope they don't let time lag in between the main event and the undercard again, especially when it's pretty clear the undercards will all end in KO/TKO...
Haha wilder fury will more likely be in the 97k range.... that fight is gonna struggle to sell (unfortunately)Not necessarily so. If they promote it properly it will do well. Remember that this is the heavyweight division. The most glamorous division in all of sports. People would tune in all over the world just to watch these two gladiators compete. It won't do less than 500,000 buys.
You belong in the lunatic asylum lolYou say that because you believe that Anthony Joshua is the end of all boxing which he is not. If I would have said the same thing about AJ you wouldn't have said nothing. You hypocrite!:fu2:
LOL Wilder VS Fury WILL DO 150K TO 180K PPV BUYS :hitit:Quit dreaming man. This is a World heavyweight championship bout, which will broadcast all over the world; While launching from the largest media giant in the world, the U.S. This fight does at least more than 500,000 buys hands down.
Great numbers made more then the first fight. According to fat boy Dan the difference was the price increase. PPV was $85-100 this time depending if you did SD or HD and where you bought it. That means if everyone only bought the $85 at minimum it generated more then $94M. The live gate was $23,473,500 for fourth biggest in boxing and Nevada history. The first fight generated 110M from live gate and PPV.
Also these numbers only include ppvs bought from cable and satellite providers doesn't include streaming digital ppv sales. Fat boy Dan says there was a 25% increase in those sales from the first fight. Seems logical that 1 year later there is more cord cutters and that's how they bought it if you don't have a cable plan.
No, PPV was $85 regardless of HD or SD.
But it generated more revenue if it did produce 25% more digital buys. Pricing it $10 bucks higher than the previous fight was the right decision.
Haha wilder fury will more likely be in the 97k range.... that fight is gonna struggle to sell (unfortunately)This is the Heavyweight division my friend with a world title and the lineal championship at stake. The heavyweight division just so happens to be the most glamorous division in all of boxing. So therefore, it will always do good numbers.
Wilder/Fury should equal or surpassed that number.

Impressive for Canelo, three straight fights above 1M PPV buys. 1.2M Chavez, 1.3M Golovkin I, 1.1M Golovkin II.
what a surprise that he got the decision that 80 percent of people scored for ggg or a draw. just luck!
I think it did great considering that the first wasn't exactly a barn burner and the result left a bad taste for most.
^ This in a nutshell. Good post.
And if they fight again, it will be even lower.
