Loma vs Mikey sounds like a mega fight for low money for Mikey is the problem.
I'm POSITIVE Mikey wants that fight, but I'm also POSITIVE he's gonna want what he wants for that fight & I'm POSITIVE Arum is looking to lowball Mikey so that fight has a very low chance of happening if you ask me. Much lower then it should have of happening.
The business of boxing gets in the way of the entertainment of boxing far too often.
Just heard Bob arum say on video that he was discussing with Robert Garcia that they would like to make Loma vs Mikey after the Pedraza fight. He also said the Spence vs Mikey fights is probably not happening... so far for all these guys on here saying that Bob Arum doesnt want the fight
Netflix and Amazon were already established brands when they launched their streaming services. DAZN is starting from absolute zero.not true at all..Boxing is just the newest edition to the app..I have NFL,MLB,NBA,PGA,TWA,all the soccer in europe etc on DAZN here in Canada for 15US dollars a month..NFL used to cost me 200 dollars a year now its pennies because of DAZN
DAZN is a forward thinking enterprise. a few years ago people wouldnt have predicted the success of netflix and amazon prime, now they are making other traditional channels redundant. when exciting sporting events are shown on there then people will pay and a few quid a month wont seem like much

Schaefer is right that no more than 10,000 people in the U.S. will sign up for this DAZN app to watch boxing. I just can’t see this doing well in the states at all.
For the vast majority of these fights, there will be more people at the arena than watching online. I've never met a person other than me that has even heard of DAZN. Danny Jacobs fought GGG what three fights ago? I thought Hearn was going to make him a huge star
Bellator is pretty much a washed up league that nobody cares about. DAZN US needs to be successful ASAP in order for it to thrive in the US. I'm sure it will be successful outside the US though. DAZN US isn't getting any tv rights to any of the major sports anytime soon, they're pretty much tied till 2022. The only thing they might have a chance of getting is a Thursday night NFL game like Amazon Prime gets buts that about it. Netflix, Spotify and Prime are apps that people use everyday at anytime of the day. I use those pretty daily. I subscribed to ESPN+ for the free trial in June and forgot to cancel, guess what, I haven't used it since, there's nothing on ESPN+ that makes me want to open it up on a daily bases.
Bellator's average viewers across the board is down, but they can still pull a massive peak - Fedor/Mir @ Bellator 198 peaked at 1.5million, which is not a small amount.
The problem DAZN has is exactly what Schaeffer laid out months ago.
PPV fights don't fit into DAZN's model- it's the exact opposite of them really.
And if you are a guy making a name and able to pack arenas and stadiums, why would you sign a deal that pays you in 4-6 fights what you might make as a PPV star in one?
The other thing is that the American carriers who do boxing are fighting back.
ESPN+ is $5 a month
Showtimes's app is $11 a month
HBO is $15 a month
The Fox sport app is free
And all of those apps arguably have better fighters than DAZN, even if they sign Usyk, or Mikey, or Pac.
Many folks already have HBO and Showtime as part of their cable package so the only things that mean an extra cost here are probably DAZN and ESPN+. Now, if you are American and choosing between the two, do you take ESPN with Bud, Pac, and Loma or do you take DAZN with Andrade, Groves, and AJ?
Eddie Hearn is going to have to make a deal with someone to get some big fights on DAZN. And if the Americans are actually consciously closing ranks and freezing him out, that isn't going to happen.
You know what is dumb ? Ruining your career by Fighting Spence at Welterweight when there is a mega fight with Lomachenko in your weight class :)
Blame Bob Arum then
Of course, but just saying the different NFL digital rights up for grabs. They need a major sport league period. Boxing/MMA are niche sports and DAZN will be a colossal failure relying just on those two sports. Obviously that isn't the plan but let's see what happens in a few years. They got John Skipper to close the deal on these types of things.
The better question I want answers about are what benchmark does eddie hearn have to hit in order to have his contract expanded 6 more years
He just said Showtime has a 40 million budget. This man is always lying.
Definitely wrong there. Then said FOX deal is 50 million or something on the fighthype interview.
NFLs TNF renewed its deal with Amazon till 2019. DAZN might have a chance after 2019, but 1 NFL game a week isn't enough.

This guy comparing Netflix and Prime to DAZN is pretty stupid. Netflix and Prime are apps that people can watch at anytime of day. They provide way more content that targets different peoples tastes. What does DAZN US provide subscribers when there's no boxing to watch? People can turn on Netflix and Prime at anytime to watch something. What will a subscriber get to watch on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening that will interest him that isn't boxing?
They will have documentaries, sporting shows, full cards, etc. It's not just live boxing/MMA then nothing.

Yeah but that's why i said it'll take time, maybe years.
I think at some point in the not too distant future, something alone these lines will wake over the way sport is viewed. It might not even be DAZN but something will. watching actual TV will be almost archaic among generations coming through.
Then again, maybe all broadcasters will just go down the route of subscription streaming for sports, so they don't get left behind.
My main point was that DAZN or something similar has a real chance at being huge
I'll take the over on 10k. Hell 10k+ people will buy it cuz of Bellator. The boxing SHOULD do even better with attracting subscribers.
I’m talking about just Boxing though. Will it be considered a success for Boxing if other things are a lot more popular on the app? I guess time will tell though with this. I just wish they could have just left well enough alone. There’s already HBO, ESPN+, Showtime doing fights, no one wants to keep paying for extra stuff. For instance a lot of people cutting their cord on cable will be screwed over anyway eventually since everyone wants to create their own app now. Disney taking off all their stuff from Netflix & having their own app & Amazon charging more for prime. It just ruins everything when they keep charging more or adding more services.
Different type of streaming rights. Amazon, Twitter, etc went after TNF streaming rights hard this year. CBS had their streaming rights extended until 2022.
