I don't think so. Fury definitely is the man that 1st beat the man but his post fight downfall means he is currently fighting guys worse than Wilder usually does. If you were a casino or big arena, would you trust Fury is ready to carry an event level fight? I wouldn't. Wilder puts people in the Barclays but that isn't Vegas event level fights. AJ has proven he can fill Wembley and he'd surely fill Vegas with fans like Hatton did. AJ is about to be the face of the sport if he gets a huge KO win over Wilder. No doubt AJ will be the face of boxing sooner or later. And, I think he will dominate this era. But, done correctly, I think a Fury-Wilder fight can and should put the winner on equal or close to equal footing in negotiations for a 2019 fight. If the fight is a financial and popular success, it almost certainly will do that for the winner IMO. Like posters have been saying, can you imagine what the press conferences are going to look like? Can you imagine what kind of must see TV the Showtime ALL ACCESS will be? In the short term, this fight and the hype that will go with it just might do the trick as far a unification in early 2019.
