Some say RJJ is just being salty others say he was correct. Let's look at what GGG did vs Lemeiux. Knee down, G winds up a hook and lands it. Grounds for DQ?

Now lets look at RJJ vs Griffin. Roy lands TWO shots while knee is down. And then Griffin flops like a dead fish. If you go back and watch it the ref actually says he was ready to let it continue but Griffin stayed on the floor like he was shot by a sniper giving the ref no choice.

This is the punch against Vanes that got RJJ hyped. There's a way better angle though that shows the knee down. This one you can't see the knee but you get the point.

Now there's a bunch of G stringers out there calling for HBO to fire RJJ due to this outburst. Do they have a point?
Facts
Or
Salt.
I hope somebody finds the Vanes punch from the side angle. It shows the knee all the way down. The gif I posted seems like not a big deal. But from the other angle slowed down it looks worse.
Griffin was told by his coach to stay down. Go back and watch it the corner screams at him to throw his ass back on the floor because Griffin was gonna get on his feet. They knew what they were doing Lol.
Lemeiux could've easily done the same to Golovkin because he winded up that hook from a distance and connected on a downed opponent.
Roy simply said if it was him it would've been a DQ. Go read the comments under HBO's highlights of the fight, whole bunch of people calling for HBO to fire Roy.
If the gif from GGG's angle doesn't show it well, how could GGG have seen it? Should he have 360 vision?
lil g is dirty fighter and a weight bully, put him in the ring with Charlo and
watch the hype end!Yes please put him in the ring with Charlo. You won't like the way that fight goes at all. GGG is much better than Trout. He hits much harder and takes a punch much better. Charlo has yet to fight a good middleweight. Jacobs is willing, able and available.
GGG and Jones are both great fighters and neither probably meant to hit a down man. Why is it so important to you to trash GGG for everything at every possible opportunity? I am on here a lot and haven't seen a single post from anyone saying Roy Jones should be fired for what he said about the situation. You insult GGG fans by calling them G stringers for supporting a fighter they like. That's better than you and Robbie Barrett constantly hating on GGG because you don't like him. Who gives a fuc which foul was worse? It's a fight and fighters get geared up and throw combinations. Jones and GGG can beat their respective opponents with ease. They don't need to cheat to win and I believe both fouls were unintentional. You started this thread for the purpose of trashing GGG once again.

I don't think there was anything at all in last nights punch.
The Lem one could, probably should, of been point off.
Roy's one.. it's hard to argue against the DQ IMO.
A lot depends on how the guy being hit reacts I'd imagine. Even if not hurt, they can make it a tough situation for the ref.
They definitely should have deducted a point and given Lemieux time to recover. If I recall Griffin refused to continue so there was no choice but to DQ Jones.

This here ^^^
Dirrel is the master of this one. Both times he got the DQ he blatantly stayed down to force the refs hand. I'm not saying he wasn't technically hit late but cause and effect comes into play. If he gets up it's probably a point deduction but he played up the effect. Abraham grazed him and the uzcategui shot was in flow. He could have made it out of the round and carried on but chose the other way out.
Ggg got carried away against Lemieux...that probably coulda been a 2 point deduction since Lemieux was ready to continue. There was nothing in the vanes one...he landed the shot just after the knee touched, it happens. Looks a lot worse in slow motion.
Roy on the other hand 2 pieced a guy who was taking a knee...he had to be dq'd since griffin couldn't continue.
i think we also have to factor in when each fight took place. roy's was in the 90's and boxing while always being corrupt was nowhere near as bad as it is today. there was still the appearance of fairness, but they got rid of that since they realized there were no drawbacks to open corruption besides some fanboys or commentators yelling.
those fanboys have no power though and no real effect on their ability to generate money. whats important is do we still have a bunch of people who will give us money. if so we will make sure they guy we want wins.
if roy did that today i would say he prob gets a ko win. if you can low blow a guy over and over and its a ko so i dont see why the ref wouldn't just overlook what roy did. then you would have people on here saying griffin was faking, griffin quit, jones was going to win anyway. boxing and everything in life has become so polarized that you can get away with anything now cause you will always have a loyal side and you just play to that.
Agree with this.
I didn't hear Roy's comment. Was he really pushing hard for a DQ or just mentioned that it could have been grounds for a DQ?
No...he wasn't. He was just being sarcastic saying how if it was him it would have been called a DQ. When max said he didn't believe it was DQ worthy Jones agreed...but still maintained if it was him that it would have been called.
The one on Lemieux looks worse because it's slowed down. In the fight Lemieux is backing up and then suddenly takes a knee. Happens very quickly, but he doesn't hit him hard...like he kind of started pulling back at the last moment. You can tell it doesn't hit hard because Lemieux just looks up at him and says "what the ****?" and G apologizes. Should have been a point at most.
Roy on the other hand threw a ****ing combo.
GGG also threw a combo, only the first punch didn't land
He knew what he was doing
Lemieux could have gotten GGG DQ'd right there, if he had some victim acting skills

No excuses. If Roy was DQ'd for Griffin, GGG should have been DQ'd for this one, or gotten a point deduction at least
that been said, there were no grounds for DQ against Vanes
This. 100% agree
Whats the excuse for this one?

Roy was right to bring it up. However he admitted that it wasn't too serious after seeing the replay. When Gennady hit Lemiex it was a clear foul and he should have been deducted a point or DQ. It was one punch on Lemieux but a DQ would have been fine. Roy landed two punches on Griffin so a DQ was definitely going to happen when Griffin didn't continue either because he couldn't or he didn't want to. I was pissed off that Lemieux got hit when he was in one knee because I was pulling for him. The rule is there to protect the fighters health.
