While this is true, fighters adjust the trajectory of their shots to hit guys on the way down...so it doesn't necessarily mean the intention is to hit a guy after the knee touches. The idea is to make sure the knockdown/knockout is scored.

I think the outcome would've been the same just like when it happened to Lemieux. Granted it was worse for Vanes but he already got rocked with a big shot beforehand.
