Was a huge fan of Valero as a fighter he was a crazy f*cker and you only have to hear what Mikey Garcia says about their sparring to know he was a bad mofo how good he could have become I have no idea if I had to guess he would never have been a top 5 p4p fighter just more of an animal that none of the big names would have wanted to fight he would have shocked a few of them and maybe even took some good scalps for his resume Had he lived I guess he would moved up and faced danny garcia at 140 and maybe he would murdered amir khan EDIT - maybe valeros brother could fight bobby pacquaio to raise some money for them poor kids

Valero was a very fun fighter to watch, but he was a hype job whose hype skyrocketed after he died. If he never died and was able to reach his peak, he would have just ended up being another Provodnikov type of fighter.

How has a thread about the anniversary of Valero's death turned into a thread about Floyd ducking a dead fighter.

Will never know exactly what happened, there are a lot of speculation that he was murdered and not committed suicide. But later he started to show some signs that he is not mentally good. Still.. will never know what triggered those metal things and his jealousy bout his wife etc. The Pacquiao fight would have been fireworks

I'm a huge Valero fan, I loved his style, his intensity and how he fought, I believe he had greatness in him. Of all of the fighters who didn't get to have the career they MAY have been destined for, he's the One I wish we could of seen more of, the most. His trigger was so unconscious. He let his hands go so easily, guy had no fear. If you never boxed before you don't understand how hard it is t have a fearless trigger. The only guys who had a trigger as quick as his since I've watched boxing, are pac, morales, Barrera, Loma, choco. A quick trigger is probably the most underrated aspect of boxing. Can't teach that. Valero had that, dude was fearless. Freddy roach is probably the only trainer I've seen who stresses a quick trigger when preparing a fighter or scout A fighter.

His wife was very cute and sexy. You think she was boning somebody while Valero was training or was Valero just paranoid? cocaine makes u kinda paranoid, he always had minor brain damage from the bike accident. You can hate him for what he did, you can say that he wouldn't have been that good at the end but no one can deny the talent he had, many champions sparred with him and everyone seems to have a deep respect for his boxing ability, he was really good but he was a turbulent person since the beginning.

And here’s the problem with Valero, like so many boxers before and after him, he was his own worst enemy. Say he didn’t kill his wife, he was still having problems with the law. He was a drinker and a coke user. Guys like that don’t keep it together. It’s like asking what if Cus had lived another 10 years, how would Tyson’s career have turned out?
