alright fellas its that time.....
clenelo clearly messed up this time.....
thats passed already we already know hes likely to get suspended etc....
while on that.....
ggg's team is looking for their fighter to try and fight anyways on may 5th.....
the names that they (we have heard) are spike sullivan and vanes marty..... who posted on his ig that hes on that 30 day weight after he got the call up.....
then there is the IBF mando in Sergy Derevyanchenko...
ggg hasn't made an ibf obligation since 2016.... so its well passed its due time for it and derevyanchenko is the ibf mando...
Lou dibella, derevyanchenko's promoter, has clearly stated that he intends to communicate with the IBF to force the mando fight now that the canelo fight is not happening. He has also stated that sergy is READY for the may 5th fight so no rescheduling will need to happen.....
all of a sudden team ggg wants to cancel this date altogether (which imo the only way to respect that if he fights BJS in his very next fight)....
imo they should.... scratch that ... they NEED to defend that ibf title of its a clear duck....
ima put a poll up of 4 names.... and a 5th option of cancelling and fighting BJS
Charlo, Derevyanchenko, Sullivan and vanes
Understood but that is also why people like you shouldn't talk about GGG losing credibility. If you only say that you don't care about the circumstances affecting his decision then you are already showing that you don't think he has any credibility.
I think Vanes whatever his name is sucks as an opponent. Sure he's got good height, reach and some skills. But he's been inactive and wasn't really setting the world on fire before that. I would prefer GGG just pushed his next fight until June when BJS would be ready for a unification fight. Or maybe he could take on one of his mandatories to get them out of the way. I would be happy with that. But at the at the same time, I am not the guy getting up every morning doing long runs in the altitude to build up my cardio. I am not the one doing hard sparring sessions. I am not the guy pay for the camp. I am not the one who has to make sure the show turns a profit. So I understand that in a short notice situation as extreme as this one someone like Vanes could be viewed by K2 promotions as a worthwhile option.
Regarding Canelo, I agree. I don't think GGG should plan his schedule based upon the idea of fighting Canelo in September. He might risk wasting more of his time. I also don't think I would work with Golden Boy for a while if I were GGG's team considering they couldn't get that Irish no-hoper of theirs to sign on the dotted line.
Here's what I would like. Golovkin to face Saunders and Canelo this year. Of course assuming he wins the first so he can take on the second. I do not have any particular order just that he hopefully faces both guys this year. If that means Canelo in September and Saunders in December fine. If it means Saunders first then Canelo okay.
The reality I believe is he will wait for Canelo in September. I think Canelo needs this fight now more than ever. Of course Golovkin will want the fight. He wants to prove (again) he is the better fighter and of course the huge pay day. Depending on the outcome (GGG wins) then he'll face Saunders. While I would like it to this year I tend to think that fight would be early 2019 (January?).
I think it is unlikely Golovkin will face Saunders in June. Golovkin does two month training games, I don't see him extending it to three months. They have said they do not want to over train in the past. Also he risk the big pay day against Canelo.
That's how I see it playing out. From the business standpoint it makes the most sense. I think this is one of the principle reason why he is insisting on fighting in May. Fight May, rest from 5/6 to mid July and then train for two months for Canelo.
His Mandatory. Its really simple...
Is their time to alter training it’s late notice for a guy perceived as a credible challenge, I’m sure their would be no issue if it was Wade being ordered mind.
I’d prefer he fought Deveranychenko out of all the options, BJS just isn’t feasible and that’s the only fight I’d prefer more. Charlo and Andrade ain’t ready imo plus those fights could be built well, Charlo next after the BJS fight but we all know Clenelo will be up in September in Vegas, BJS gonna have to wait until next year.

'People like me', huh?:) I can understand exactly why he'd take Vanes as a short name opponent - I don't like it, but I do believe he got what he could on short money and short notice and to express it a different way it doesn't bother me and due to the circumstances I won't be blaming Golovkin for making that fight although I do reserve the right to say that the fight itself is, frankly, a bit sh1t.
Golovkin's credibility? I meant what I said. He needs to take care of business and stop following the ginger kid around. I like him as a fighter, always will - been a bit of a cheerleader since I started posting here back in 2013, but I've never felt that his insistence on holding out for the big names was a good look, however understandable. Mostly it didn't really matter but turning away from the Saunders' unification last year was a real mistake in my eyes, and basically showed that GBP were calling all the shots.
Here's the thing and IMO it is the root problem with boxing. Golovkin did not lose anything financially waiting on Canelo. That is why he is likely to continue to wait for him. He may have lost something in terms of furthering his accomplishments but when it comes to money, waiting for Canelo is the best thing he did and can do. That sucks for us fans.
Sad but true.
Understood. You'd have to have followed a number of my posts on the matter to get where I'm coming from. Essentially there is no longer any hope of securing a decent opponent for May 5th and I don't much care either way if Golovkin manages to find a third rate opponent to stay busy and possibly cover his camp costs on that date.
What I'm talking about is what happens after, and from my perspective that needs to be taking care of business... mandos and unification. Canelo may or may not make overtures when his suspension is up but TBH that fight can no longer be counted on to happen and Golovkin has already wasted far too long waiting on the Ginger. Long past time to cut his losses IMO.

I don't care. If he fights Derevy I'd watch and be interested. But no he doesn't have to fight him. If he chooses to fight on May 5th okay if he doesn't okay too. Given a **** situation, I'm not going to get all worked up.
More interested to see how it plays out after.
his mandatory who is ranked higher at 160 then any of the clowns he's trying to fight 2 of which are not even middleweights lol
His mandatory is willing to fight on short notice on GGG's date. So what is the phuking problem? Short notice = advantage GGG who's had a long full training camp.
Indeed. It's not a good look but it also doesn't mean he wouldn't have been willing to if the 'right fight' had been in another division - I'm pretty damn sure he would have faced JCC Jr or maybe even Froch for a few $mil if the negotiations with either had come through. Before he started making some noise and $s of his own I suspect he would even have fought Ward at 168 or a catchweight.
Like I say though IMO the problems began when he got the scent of those Cotto / Canelo $s. Since then all other considerations and opportunities became secondary, even when it started to look increasingly like he was being given the run around.
yup yup.....
I'd prefer Golovkin to fight Derevyanchenko. That's his mandatory and it's a solid fight for the short notice and if you still want to salvage the big fight date. Another opponent I'd be surprised if they picked him would be Gilberto Ramirez. If Golovkin is going towards cementing his legacy a fight with Zurdo for a world title at 168 would be great.
but hes never done it....
he said anyone from 154-168 but everyone hes fought was at 160 and against guys moving up from 154 and fighting them at 160

I'd have to disagree then. I believe the statement was probably sincere when he first restarted his career in the US. Certainly taken in it's full context 'Open to offers from anyone from 154 - 168' and 'willing to move up or down for the right fight'.
In fact taken literally it's almost impossible that it wasn't since basically every fighter is 'open to offers' from fighters in the surrounding divisions and every fighter would move up or down for the 'right fight'. What's mystifying to me is how such a banal statement has become the subject of such heated debate.

There was an article here that showed Sergei D. turning down 250k for an Andrade fight because he had been offered 400k originally in December. How much would he demand for a short notice fight against GGG? He would demand more than the 400k he was originally offered for Andrade. And with GGG's pay there is no way that fight is profitable on a short notice non-ppv fight. Its just logic.
does andrade have a belt at 160?
does ggg have a belt at 160?
please show me link where derevyanchenko and dibella stated they wanted more money for the ggg fight when they clearly know its a mando
the entire time he was saying anyone from 154-168

WTF with this credibility bull*****. People here don't understand that boxing is a business and GGG's promoters aren't going to put on an event guaranteed to lose money just to keep GGG busy. That is why these no names (that Mexican welterweight), has beens (Vanes Mater"whatever the **** his name is) and never was (Irish guy who looks like Snidely Whiplash). Andrade and Sergei D. would want so much money that the fight would need to be on PPV to even have a chance of being successful but they aren't PPV draws. GGG would be lucky if that fight would earn the low 150k buys that the Lemieux fight earned since both guys are less popular than Lemieux was at the time.
GGG's team is trying to recover from a relatively last minute cancelation of a fight they have been preparing for. They are trying to get him to fight the best possible opponent under very trying circumstances (short notice, low cash offer). Its not easy.
