In the twilight of his career, ali fought a complete toothless hobo named Leon Spinks with like 2 professional fights. and got his ass beat.
so what's wrong with GGG going for a easy tune-up until he fights Canelo in Sept?
Nothing wrong with GGG taking an easy fight before the probable war with Canelo in September. He last two fights were hard fights against the two other best middleweights in the world. That would be one easy fight out of four when most champions are taking two easy fights for every hard fight they have. I would rather he fight Andrade or the Russian but an easy fight is ok with me. Spinks was not the bum you are saying he was.
Spinks was an Olympic gold medallist and a busy fighter (who spoiled himself with drugs later on).
By that point in time Ali had already cleared out the division 3 times and was on yet another new gen of heavyweights...who he'd never be able to compete with because he wasn't your average 36 year old, he had years of wear and tear and to make matters worse, signs of Parkinson's were already showing.
I personally dont think GGG fighting a less than top level opponent is bad at all under the circumstances (As long as its not prospects) BUT comparing him to Ali is ridiculous.
rumor had it that around that time ali was also banging the hottest women known to mankind....lol

Nobody said he didn't. Ali did too. Doesn't mean they didn't fight weak opposition too.
Pretty much all Haglers best wins are against guys that started about 2 or 3 divisions below him though. Great fighters maybe but fighters today would also get flack for that.
I'm not knocking Hagler, great fighter, i'm just pointing out facts that older fighters seem to get a pass for.
thats because in the case of hagler, he was damn near 60 fights in against full-fledged mws before he even got the big $$ fights against those smaller guys moving up who brought the $$, and these smaller guys now rank higher on all-time great lists than anybody you want to care to mention...
lol....i guess you glossed over the fact that before he lost to srl, he avenged every loss and draw on his record and was THE champ @ mw, not a paper champ who had a list of diva demands, or avoided guys just to hold onto a piece of a belt like today's fighters do...you wanted to be the undisputed mw champ, you had to see marvelous marvin...it was that simple...
i couldn't imagine hagler stalling hearns out because he feared his power, behind some ost that wasn't even the norm...he would have gotten hogtied by me and everybody that were pro marvelous...yet in this day and age these newfangled, sav-a-floyd, simping fanboys will put on their cape, and blame the other guy for that type of stupidity...they don't hold their guy accountable for nothing...thats why the old guys carry more weight....
They really weren't. Hamsho lost every title shot he got.
Also, my point was that he had only fought a load of bums when Hagler fought him. Plenty of fighters today would have got crucified for that kind of opponent choice if they were meant an elite fighter.
I guess we have different views of what a world class fighter is. According to you, if you never win an alphabet trinket, you weren’t world class. I believe differently and believe Hamsho would beat every fighter ggg has and the only thing stopping him from a trinket was Hagler.
more like it.

Cos Ali had already proven his greatness in the ring
Compare that bltch! !!!
I remember both Spinks fights. The main reason I remember the first one was how gutted I was about the outcome. Spinks was a game little guy but it was obvious to even an elementary kid like me that Ali was slipping.
it is something wrong with saying somebody like leon spinks is a t-total bum, without going beneath the surface though, which is obvious this thread starter didn't do enough of...
yeah, TS is a homo :lol1:
nothing wrong with not being in your 50's. they make books for that.

Does GGG's whole life revolve around Canelo? is that fight really the only way for him to build legacy. Tell that man to stop sniffing the Ginger's ass and move on with his life.
he should cancel the May 5th fight against some random goat herder and face BJS in June to finally accomplish his "dream".
afterwards he should run it back with Jacobs because their fight is way more debatable than the Canelo fight.
then he should take his ass up to 168 or 175 for even bigger scalps. the way Golovkin obsesses over Canelo is disgusting and shows his hypocrisy as he always accused others of being "business men" in a derogatory way.
Come on, now, that rematch was the biggest scheduled fight so far this year. Now that Cuntnelo has ruined it with his exposure as a cheat, I agree that Golovkin should drop him from his list. Let's hope he dumps him and moves on to bigger, better things.
Hamsho was a bum. You know what it is gentlemen, when those guys were coming up people listened to the media as gospel but we had nothing else to compare it too. Also, Hamsho wasn't exactly on US tv a whole lot so defiitely not much to compare it to.
In the digital age we have access to all those fights and when you watch Hamsho fight, he looks like a b to c level calibre fighter.
Look at him against lalonde, I know it's towards the end of his career, but this guy looks horrible. Just 12 years in, didn't hit the 14 year average.
Look at a much fresher Hamsho vs Czyz, HORRID!!! 7 years pro.
Shows how low your boxing IQ really is. Scypion and especially Hamsho were world class opposition. Do some homework.
