No one will give ggg any credit for beating an unknown ukraninan or andrade who has done nothing. GGG at 36 facing dervyachenko or andrade 3 months before a canelo rematch would be too much wear and tear on his body. At this point ggg's legacy will be remembered best with a canelo win so only make sense to preserve his body for the rematch. It's the truth like it or not.

I'd actually give him massive credit for fighting and beating Andrade, but the fact is... he's NOT going to fight him because he will look silly vs a superior boxer. He didn't look great fighting brook, Jacobs, or canelo, only when he fights bums... then he ain't sh1t. Beating Andrade would make a real statement, but that fight won't happen.
Andrade and Chenko really aren't all that risky and I doubt he'd get much credit for beating them. They would make for decent replacements though.
They would definitely be a top 5 win on GGG's resume though, so he should fight them

Golovkin can fight Derevyanchenko May 5th, the guy has said he'll take it at short notice, and get his IBF mandatory out of the way; it will be at least 6months before Canelo can fight.
just watch the damn fight. i guess you think lara lost to williams too.
I've watched the Damn fight twice !!!
Had GGG 7 - 5 watching live and Canelo 7 - 5 with no volume . So I'm Good with the Draw .
You Assume I had Lara over Williams huh ? Stupid comment .
You do know what people say about ASSuming right ?
GGG's resume is weak, beating either them would only make his resume better and would be one of his best wins.
So you would rather him fight spike or some 21 year old kid who adds nothing to his resume on may 5th instead?
LOL that is pathetic
yeah, look at all the media scorecards. he won the damn fight.
Oh right . So the Media determines who wins a fight . Gotcha .
Do you suggest they put an asterisk on his record with " The media scorecards had GGG winning the fight " ?
hes beaten canelo already. sometimes with boxing you just have to ignore the judges, you cant just keep rematching them until you get the right decision. robberies happen all the time
So GGG has Already beaten Canelo because a bunch of posters on a boxing site say he was robbed ?
Guess what fanboys ... I see a D on his record for that fight Not a W .
I'm still trying to figure out who has Canelo beaten?
Mosley...wow a pensioner
Liam Smith.. good win
Cotto...a pensioner
Lara... he didn't win
Kirkland.. good win over a C level fighter
Trout... good win.
Who else? Notice the trend? He ain't really beat anybody. So why is he this so called figure?
Canelo IS that so called figure because he IS the $$$ man in boxing . Plus he's only 28 and you can argue that his Resume is better or at best equal to GGG's.
Look, GGG has cemented himself just like Wlad did. It may not be pretty, it doesn't push him to the upper echelon of greats, but he did pretty much everything a champion could do. Big picture, he doesn't come close to ATG status. As far as today goes, ABC orgs and whatnot, he's done pretty damn good. At least he's been fun to watch. If he left the sport today I'm not sure where I'd rank him. If you can or don't fight the best it's a blemish in history. Myself, I would never put him in the top 10.....but that doesn't mean I don't think he could be a force in any era.
I would say Wlad has a solid record.
Haye, Brewster, Peter, Byrd twice, Povetkin, Chagaev, Ray Mercer, Rahman, Ibragimov is pretty much solid wins streak.
I stated many times Wlad achieved much more in the sport than Golovkin, Ward or the Crawfords of the world.
That being said he's lost 4 times.
But find me a HW undefeated in 69 fights.
69 fights in modern heavies is pretty sick.

Spin much? I mean I ain't big on criticising any fighter for what they decide to do with their career, but if there is a mandatory ready and willing to fight (within budget constraints etc) then that should always be the priority...
Legacy? Who gives a ****? Legacy isn't something you should be thinking about during your active career... that's to be decided by the historians of the future, but as a rule of thumb taking the best fights available right now is what will ensure you the best legacy, cos well, sh1t happens.
Golovkin (or Canelo) could get a career ending injury next week or next month, Canelo could decide that he likes them street beef enchiladas soooo much that he just has to retire - in short, anything could make that fight not happen.
Fighters who wait around for the perfect storm of great fight and great payday are far more likely to hurt their legacy in the long run IMO.
NB. This is a duplicate of a post I accidentally posted under the PICK EM crew account and reflects my own personal opinion, not that of the CREW.

He needs to have a marquee name on his resume. Both Bernard Hopkins and Carlos Monzon have fought HOF caliber fighters and lineal champions in their run. GGG haven't fought anything of such caliber.

So what I'm hearing is that you don't want him to take risks. Gotcha.
Me personally I would like to see andrade or sergey. But if his team dosen't take the fight it makes sense why. He's 36 and has a lot of wear and tear. He's had 2 tough fights back to back. Jacobs and canelo. At his age, It dosen't make sense to have another tough fight and then fight canelo again 3 months later.
