Dave Coldwell said something in this video that really resonated with me regarding Deontay Wilder's popularity in the United States compared to Joshua's popularity in the UK. You often here American fight fans saying that the reason why boxing isn't as popular in the states compared to the UK, is because the United States has more major sports. But if you go back and look at the 80's, 90's, and 2000's, you will see that Football, Basketball, and Baseball were still more popular than Boxing, yet boxers like Holyfield, Oscar, Tyson, Tito, Cotto, Floyd, Roy Jones, and Manny Pacquiao still became huge superstars despite boxing being a "less popular sport" Also, let's not forget that Social Media didn't start becoming popular until the 2010's. So, in an age of social media, what's the excuse for guys like Thurman, Crawford, The Charlos, Spence, Wilder, Porter, Jacobs, and other talented American fighters? Is their promoter, do they lack charisma, is it because they don't have the complexion for perfection, or is it because they haven't used social media to their advantage?
