All of the world's leading experts have him in the top 5, and frankly, most of them have him in the top 3 or 4.
NSB agreed completely when they thought Wilder was avoiding him. As soon as Wilder agreed to fight him, suddenly Ortiz was 130 years old, over the hill, slow, a bum, etc.
Yep. 100 percent true.
I admit I'm a fan of both fighters. The problem with Ortiz is with punches thrown! He does not throw many.
But truth be told when he lands its a muther f****ker. I give him 5-6 rounds if he can land one and one is all he needs.
After that Wilder wins a decision.
That was an impressive win for Wilder. I ain’t gonna lie. I thought he was gonna take an L tonight.
Wow!:boxing:
Great fight I to see it again! Like the Showtime crew I had Ortiz ahead at the stoppage. Props to Wilder!
#3 HW after Joshua and Wilder.
I agree. I hope after tonight Wilder is still rated higher for the sake of the sport.Joshua vs Wilder can do MUCH more for the sport then Joshua vs what by then will be a 40yr old 2 time drug cheat.
Nobody really knows.
Hasn't fought anyone of note.
You could say the same thing with Deontae.
He could either make Wilder look average.
Or the other way around.
Destroyed Jennings in what can be described as one of the most skillful displays I've seen from a heavyweight fighter ever. Completely crushed his dreams. Defeated in a much more impressive fashion then Klishtko.
He used to be considered one of the best in the divison, but now that Wilder is fighting him, he is either:
1) 50 year old talentless grandpa
2) Overhyped drug cheat
If he was indeed a good fighter, that would conflict with their narrative certain posters are clinging to that Wilder won't fight anyone good. They've been saying he's a talentless, crude hypejob for almost a decade now, so it would be very embarrassing for them if that wasn't the case.
What he just said.

every rating system has its flaws. i personally prefer tbrb, which had ortiz higher than wilder when they were scheduled to fight last year. ortoz got pulled from tbrb when he failed his drug test, but before that they had him #2 in the world.
Same here. Only rankings I trust.
The computerised rankings aren’t always accurate. Seems to me like a case of preferring one set of rankings when it seems convenient..

Stiverne was only ranked so highly because of his belt. It is what it is
yes, as he should have been. championships always way heavily in my rankings, i simply dont recognize the WBO as a world title on par with the others.
Sometimes stereotypes are so on target. Ortiz is to Cuban fighters what Playboy used to be to the girl next door. I have always been a fan of Cuban fighters, they usually have impeccable technique, are smart and competitive. Their fatal flaw seems to be the ability to stay on track and make sure they are ready to grab the gold ring when the time comes!
Ortiz may have more power than a few of his fellow countrymen that came up recently, he certainly has the skill sets. I fell in love with Odlanier Solís lol. I felt like he may have been better than Ortiz but Ortiz has more natural power...both men have a lot in their bag of tricks.
It is encouraging that Ortiz appears at a good weight, Wilder has really been putting his punches together well so this figures to be a decent fight.
I would not sell Ortiz short here but think Wilder has come along as a pure puncher. Expect to see Ortiz lose a contraversal decision that probably should go to Ortiz and expect for it to generate a lot of threads here. :beerchug:
Parker has a high ranking because of his belt, but Ortiz has beaten better fighters. Which is why Ortiz is #4 in the computerized rankings and Parker is #7.

Takam is arguably the best fighter between all opponents so not sure how you reached your conclusion. Ortiz hasn’t fought anyone of note, other than perhaps Jennings..
Parker is almost universally ranked no.3. Joshua is always keeping that one step ahead of Wilder.
