i need to know beforehand
i seem to remember when the fight got canceled the first time alot of lips moving about how wilder is scared cause ortiz is "live"
i need to know now that were about a week away from reality happening....how good of an opponent is ortiz
you are allowed half points to grade
i know that guys often like to call guys scared of a guy......and accuse that guy of wanting no parts of an opponent...until it gets really close and reality sets in
New England says you will never know before hand and maybe that seems like a cop out but I guess that's true, especially with older fighters. Of the guys that are available to him in this time, I think 4.5 is a fair rating. Historically, I'd still think this man would be a handful for most contenders. I'm not real fond of his defense or his ability to pressure a backfooter but he's a specimen with a tremendous arsenal of punches who's had all the time in the world to perfect what he does best, despite that also cutting the other way, about his age.
If you were trying to hand pick the toughest opponent for him he'd be up there.
So 4.5.
That .5 is lost because there is no getting away from it that he's looked a bit flat and has had long stretches of inactivity and he's not a young man. But even with that I can't think of anyone I'd pick to have decent chance against Wilder.
You can't be giving Povetkin opportunities. I like Whyte but I could never see him being competitive. Jarrell Miller is the only other one I'd have been interested in because I think he's an issue for any heavyweight.
Ortiz a top tier heavy at this point and the Wilder fight is a terrific bout for boxing at this stage. I know everyone here will be degrading the loser but you can't fix stupid on this board. I give both credit and I see it as a straight up pick'em
fight.
Ortiz with tons of experience and Wilder a hungry young champ. Ortiz being a southpaw may not be an advantage however his left hook just might be the difference!
I see both right hands doing damage.
Ray
The guy is a confirmed steroid cheat his anyone can root for this scum bag i do not understand.
How good is he now he’s off the juice ? Dude is nearly forty and looks like he’s slowed now he’s not juicing.
It’ll be Wilder’s best win either way and somewhat a notable one.
Wilder is the favourite for a reason but this guy is one of the better opponents in a division that lacks real depth.
Reality > Fantasy
You know about a fight that's been fixed ok thats hear about it.Where you make the money? What person/entity took your bets. you youself said you heard "rumors" I believe from a friend?
I think people are wayyyyyyy overrating Ortiz BUT the thing is there are rankings that got Ortiz higher than Wilder as we speak.
And plenty of mfers are saying Ortiz wins. And however you cut it most cats consider Ortiz a top 5 guy. Anytime a non-#1 guy fights a top 5 guy I think you gotta give the guy solid props for his opponent selection so I'd say it has to be a 4 & probably should be a 4.5 or 5.
I fully expect Wilder to be not sh^t post this fight either way cuz he'll have lost to Ortiz or he'll have beaten a "bum" doe cuz you know how petty & stupid boxing fans are.
That sums up the truth perfectly.
I hope so ..we ALL know one happened already and it WAS a big fight ,his first step up .
I also have first hand experience of someone telling me that they were paid to take a dive for Wilder ,and it was bc (MY friend was known as a dangerous puncher and Wilder had been down with less punchers) .
If you think its not possible that it can't take place then you haven't been watching boxing long enough . Everybody wins , EVERYBODY if Wilder does .
Like i said we'll ALL see if its legit or not a few days .
No it did not happen. You can have all the guys tell you whatever there is NO WAY enough money to do it.And these Sportbooks are FAR from dumb ANY FUNNY BETTING and they would shut it down. This is not the 20s or even 50s.And no everyone don't win because the money they make if they do win cant be made up with the books and trust me ive been around a long time.
You have to ask yourself, who else in boxing would you put money on over Ortiz?
A 6'4 240lb brick shyt house with an 84" reach, 80% KO ratio, extensive amateur pedigree, and blasts out his opponents with relative ease.
I can only see AJ and Fury MAYBE beating Ortiz. He'd completely overwhelm a cruiser or smaller fighter.
5. Ortiz is no ordinary HW, he possess one of the longest reaches in HW history at 84", it's longer than Wilder's, AJ's, and rivals 6'9 Fury's 85" wingspan.
Ortiz is a boxer puncher, high IQ, not just a brawler. Built like a tank and has serious KO power. He'd give any HW in history trouble, guys like him are rare.
Solid challange. If the best in the division is considered a 5 then Ortiz is a solid 4 or maybe even a 5 in a disguise but we will find out soon enough
Four unless he takes a dive which we ALL should be surveying as fans and be VERY realistic about and be more prone of catchingshould unfortunately one take place with Haymon here .
I think Ortiz a 40% chance to win .
There is NO WAY he takes a dive. There is NO amount of money to pay him for what he WOULD be getting.Dives do not take place at this level as any weird betting would stop the books. And like I said the money he would make for winning is millions and millions. That sh ite only happens in low level Midwest fights and even there its been going out.You wanna know one way to make headlines and get banned. No need commissions in these state will except anyone.Trust me that sh ite don't take place very often at all and NEVER in big money fights its really impossible.
Really you have to put him 3rd behind the big 2.Now I think he should be banned but if your gonna rate him how can you rate any one above him besides those two.I know the Joshua fanboys are out hard trying to put him down NOW but before it was "why is Wilder not fightin him"Real fans should be rooting with everthing they got for both Joshua and Wilder because that's whats BEST FOR BOXING.Not Parker vs Ortiz(2x drug cheat). There is no future for Ortiz Joshua people will wait another year before thinking about it he wuill be 40 then as he tuns 39 a week or so after fight.
In the last 4 years he has defeated Kayode (ik this got overturned but still, he KO'ed him easily), Jennings and Thompson rather easily, so he's not some scrub that you don't respect. Wilder better go in there, old man or not, and respect this guy's power in the first few rounds. Adjust to him, box him, then if you can, take him out.
His power is definitely a 5, that's all you gotta know, and he's not a bad boxer skill-wise. I don't know what is his total rating, all I know is that his power is a 5 and I haven't seen him get KO'ed.
I got Wilder on this one, but Ortiz is not some scrub who is being placed there to get KO'ed. This is a legit match-up.
