Ggg before he faced Jacobs or kovalev before he faced ward?
I always recall ggg being constantly called a hype job who fought nobody, yet kovalev seemed to get respect despite having a week resume and lots of hype. Would it be the opposite if ggg had signed to fight ward instead of kovalev?
Someone please explain why kovalev wasn't an "overrated hype job".
Ability is still ability. Harsh or not there are tiers to ability, and the fall off in talent between the tiers is pretty clear.
Yea but even top 20 guys aint bums. That was the point calling guys bums or whatever just shows ignorance.
I don't call guys in top 10(or even top 20)bs fighters.Dont think too many if any on this board are top 50 in their city at what they do mush less the world.Always can tell who and who has not boxed before by the way they speak about fighters.

It's also interesting that top guys in one division are "bums" and the same caliber of fighters in another division are "world level".
Yup you can tell who has boxed and who has prob never even been in a real street fight by the way they talk about any fighter who is not an ATG.
Sergio, Cotto, Geale, Quillin, and Golovkin (almost purely on hype) were the top middleweights; once you got passed that top 5, you were arguing about so-so and bull**** fighters.
The current welterweight division is literally almost 10 deep on top flight talent. Thurman, Spence, Garcia, Porter, Kell Brook, seemingly Crawford, Pacquiao is on his way out, Khan when not getting clipped and you can throw Horn in because of his belt. Underneath that, you have Lamont Peterson, Jesse Vargas, Yordenis Ugas, and other solid fighters to look at.
And also never said fighters I men were top 5 I said top 10 and bottom 3rd of top 10.

"World level" is a bit subjective isn't it? Let's be real, if ggg beat those guys people would say pascal was shot and chilemba was a bum coming off a loss.
No, they wouldn't. They'd talk up the fact that he finally voluntarily stepped in with someone with a pulse.
Both are excellent fighters but GGG is better in my opinion. They are at a similar level offensively, but GGG has much better stamina and takes a shot better. I don't think we'll ever see GGG quit like kovalev did in the ward rematch. Both were over-hyped though.
I love how guys will crap all over top 10 or even top 20 fighters. How many guys on here are one of the top 100 guys in their city at what they do.Much less being top 20 in the world at their weight. It amazes me.

Except that he didn't. Chalk it up to whatever you want, Murray was the "almost" man in every fight that he's had basically beyond Euro level.
Regardless of dodgy decision he more than handled his own against other world level fighters in their backyard and did so on more than one occasion. I don't know what you consider a world level fighter but Murray checked the boxes with his performances.
Martin Murray wasn't a world level fighter? He should of had wins over Sturm and Martinez in their home grounds.

Pascal and Chilemba had both shown themselves to be world-level operators before stepping in with Kovalev.
Looking through Golovkin's entire run, the only time that he stepped in with a fighter who had already proven to be truly be world level was earnestly the Daniel Geale fight.

Kovalev had a slightly better resume but he never fought anyone with real KO power. I think that's why he chose to fight Ward over Stevenson. Golovkin faced Stevens, Lemieux, and then fought Jacobs. Stevens is small (in stature) for the division and and Lemieux is limited but they can both crack.
They were both ranked by trans and the THE RING and id bet even espn when they fought GGG.All bottom 3rd but still ranked.Unless you go by Boxrec(which rates canelo pfp #1 and Spence ranked 6th at 47 4 spots below Jeff Horn. And just above Euro Level is World level.

I'd would have to go with GGG. Sheer competition he is much better. The names on his resume, although not that good, are better than what Kovalev has. Overall, I think Kovalev is the better, more exciting boxer.
