When I fought as an amateur there were a few fights I saw at Golden Gloves and Olympics where one guy got totally screwed. I have seen myself how difficult it is for some judges to see what happens during an inside exchange or any exchange for that matter when the ref and at least 1 fighter whose back is to the judge making it difficult for them to gauge who landed the harder shots. I'm not saying that's the only problem w boxing judges but if we would let them watch on TV monitors without any commentary that would certainly be a step in right direction.
But no clue how to fix this bigger issue known as the shady side of it such as Managers/Promoters having an influence on judges ( which for those of you not aware has been proven on numerous occasions s w Don King, Top Rank although it was t Arum who was caught but a high up in company. And I have no doubt that Golden Boy is pulling some shady maneuvers as well specially for Canelo. Not saying Canelos fault but IMO he got a gift vs Laura, somehow won or at least was a draw on one scorecard vs Floyd, and GGG fight I had GGG winning but I'm ok w a draw however we all can agree Canelo didn't win 10 damn rds)
If anyone has any ideas or agree or disagree w my thread plz comment.
the whole sport is corrupt. the corruption is built into it and it runs on corruption. nothing will be done because they dont want anything to be done. we all saw a guy low blow another and the ref pretended like it was a "ko" was anything done about it? woops we messed up, lets change it, or at least say we messed up...nope. we all saw byrd with her insane scorecard and that got so much backlash that they benched her "for a little while" at best they scapegoat the judges and refs but does that address any of the underlying corruption...no
its like having a tie game in the super bowl, 1 second left. one team tries a field goal but it sails 20 yards wide...wait the refs say it was good??? now repeat that over and over for decades and decades and you got boxing. if people complain enough bench the refs for a couple games. that solved the problem!
Fix it by firing all the old clueless fux like Byrd and moretti, and a few others they always give chip fights to and actually implement a criteria of a hiring system because they hire their friends not professionally capable boxing experts.
But of coarse the Nevada state boxing commission is built off incompetence and corruption so it would have to start with them being completely wiped out and having a national boxing commission.
A TV Monitor would certainly help. I also think a system where you have 5 judges instead of 3 and each one of them gives a round to one fighter- and at the end when the scores are collected, the fighter has only won the round if the majority (3 or more judges) scored it in favour of the particular fighter. This way a more complete score should be the result
For example This system with 3 judges would have resulted in a 115-113 win for Golovkin against canelo
But to have a more complete result it should be judged with 5 judges instead of 3
If you only score KDs, then Pacquiao vs Mosley would be scored a draw. I think you're on to something with the whole "remove the subjective" element, but I don't see how this exact idea helps. There's plenty of dominant fighters that take a flash KD while dominating a fight. The idea that a fighter "dominated" the other so he should be judged the winner is the type of subjectivity that needs to be eliminated to keep the outcome transparent and much, much harder to corrupt. I'm taking this approach from hockey which records shots on goal. This stat is often used by analysts in their SUBJECTIVE commentaries of the game. Still, team A might have out-shot team B by 50 to 10, but ultimately team B wins if it scored once and team A was shutout (e.g. team B has an all-star goalie).
Yes, Pacquiao vs Mosley would've been a draw but that would be the case for hundreds of other fights in which neither fighter is willing to commit to an offense that ends in a KO, TKO, or builds towards a scored victory. A properly governed sport would implement a revenue structure to reward those fighters with higher number of wins.
On big TV fights they should have Live viewer scoring polls. At the end of the fight, if the judges are more than say 5 points out with their scoring compared to the public they should be suspended. First suspension 1 year, second suspension 3 years, third suspension Life.

I figured it out.
Keep everything the same as it is now, but before a judge takes a job he/she is told that every 100 rounds they scored they will be competing with other judges on accuracy with pundits (who'll be judging the fights after the fact) & the lowest 10 judges in % accuracy vs the pundits pool outcome will be put into a drawing where 3 people are selected to have a finger or toe cut off (which we'll also have a drawing for for extra excitement). You can continue judging until you get 3 fingers or toes cut off.
Give this man all your points and Green K please.
For decisions, score knockdowns only. Remove the subjective aspect from the sport.
Use judges to overturn a missed call by the referee. TV viewers and event attendees can monitor the same tape replay reviewed by the judges.
Runners who pitty patty for 12 rounds will amass only draws or lose to anyone willing to go for it. Only fighters who commit to their punches will have any chance of earning a victory.
Maybe two judges have to agree about a round for it to count? Would have to change the 10-point criteria I would think, and might result in more draws, but hopefully less oblivious scores? Just my opinion
If they can't fix bias and incompetence in the legal judging system theres no way to fix in sports.
The only true way is to eliminate judges. In the old days the ref was the judge. I don't like that either. They have to come up with some kind of sophisticated version of compubox or let fighters fight until one quits or gets a ten count. That's really the only way. Let the fighters decide when theyve had enough and if we want to kill ourselves in the ring to prove a point so be it.
That's actually a great point
