When he is tired he needs to know how to clinch. He was boxing beautifully in the first few rounds but all that sticking and moving kind of wore him down.
In addition, it doesn't help the fact that he doesn't have 22 year old legs anymore. He's now 32 years of age. He needs to learn how to stick, move and clinch in order for him to catch a breather every now and then. So he won't tire out so easily and quickly down the stretches of fights.
In so many words he kind of punched himself out.
He never takes his loses well. He seems to underperform after each one. He was going great early on and some how faded. Needs to make adjustments when his opponents do
Hurd didn't adjust, he just outgunned the smaller guy.
Big Trout fan and he made it close he alaways does (except Lara) but, i dont know if he can really beat any of the other top guys in the division.
Trout could never live up to what I thought possible post Cotto. He won that fight, looked good doing it and seemed to have a lot of size and skill at the weight...and his career just stalled. He looked very good against Canelo but the moment the scores were read out halfway through, his body language changed and he accepted the loss. he didnt hit the gas against Lara either for whatever reason.
Psychologically Trout knew he had ****edu p too many times before and last night gave everything. It was a real brave and world level performance but it came too late. He is too old to capitilise in the division and each of these young guys beat him up.

Rematch Cotto and snatch the wbo title, then unify, with Charlo vs Hurd winner, win or lose retire afterwards.lol why would cotto give trout another chance to beat him again?
He's had a decent career, but just not able to push on to that next level. He can probably hang around for another year or two and have some competetive eliminators. He doesn't need to become a gatekeeper though.
This was it. First 7 rounds I had.him winning 5 of them then he hit a wall and Hurd started landing big punches. Trout doesn't have the power or the youth to fight that type of fight. Thought he won 6 rounds against Charlos and Canelo, so I'm impressed with Tour's career, but this would have been huge for.him.
Taking some tune-up fights to get his confidence back and moving up in weight would be the best decision. He's suffering from the fact that he used to be considered a big guy at 154 now there's guys younger and bigger than him. Charo, Hurd, Andrade and Lara those are all guys who I don't think he can beat so if I was him i'd probably move up and spend at least a year fighting tune-ups before he gets in there with another top fighter. Then depending on what happens with GGG/Canelo maybe he could get one of those belts if he's better at that weight.
