What are some fight predictions you got COMPLETELY wrong? Not just the victor, but the gameplans, reactions in the ring from fighters, etc. I thought GGG would attack to the body more and go on the offensive right out of the gate. Which obviously he didn't do.
I've had so many, The ones that come to mind if I could only list 4
Canelo/GGg - Didn't think Canelo would go the 12
Canelo/Cotto
Broner/Maidana -
Hopkins /Smith
Tyson vs Holyfield
SRL vs HEARNS biggest shocker for me.
PAC vs Marquez 4
Donaire vs Rigo
khan vs Garcia the no look left hook
PAC vs Oscar. I just thought Oscar was trying to get a cheap win with a big name.
RJJ vs Tarver both fights. RJJ officially lost his aura of invincibility on the first fight.
TBE vs coralles. I thought Floyd could pull off a win but not run over coralles!
Matthysse vs. Garcia is the one that immediately came to mind. I was almost sure Matthysse would KO him, but Garcia showed he has one of the best chins in Boxing. I'm hoping they can fight again at 147 sometime soon if Matthysse gets another win or two at welterweight.
Pacquiao vs. Horn I guess you can say due to the result. But I thought Pacquiao won clearly & most others do too so maybe it doesn't count.
Matthysse vs. Postol I was sure Matthysse would win. I didn't really know anything about Postol before the fight though to be fair so I figured Matthysse would win by KO/TKO.
Haye vs Bellew. I didn't see the fight live but when I read the result of Haye losing I was completely shocked. I was sure Haye would win.
The final Pac vs Marquez fight stands out to me. Between the weight and ages of the fighters I thought this was easily one fight too many for Juan. I had given him the win in each previous fight but I thought he had slowed down just enough to get beaten pretty emphatically in the final fight. To my credit he was looking rough before the fight ended. But Jesus Christ what an ending. Also, as another poster mentioned above I thought Mosley was walking into a slaughter against Margarito. I figured he would just get walked down by a man he couldn't hurt. Morales vs Marcos was a shocker to me. Erik may be my favorite fighter ever but he was beyond done at that point and fighting WELL above a good weight for him. He fought his ass off that night. Forrest vs Mayorga really surprised me. How could such a polished boxer lose to that guy not once but twice? The second fight was actually really close if I remember correctly, but I thought he would have a field day with a crude clown like Mayorga. Tszyu and Hatton was another one. I didn't see how Ricky would win that fight. He was too hittable and Kostya was so hard hitting and accurate. Ricky fought the fight of his life that night. Also, seems silly now, but I thought Kessler would beat Ward. Too good and too experienced for someone as untested as Ward. I didn't like how Ward chose to fight to win, but thats the refs job (or Kesslers) to make him change it. Ward dominating the Super Six so easily was an eye opener to me.
Carlos Quintana vs Paul Williams.
Quintana was known as good fighter around then w only loss coming to Cotto but at that time Williams was fighting at 147/154 and Style wise reminded me of Tommy Hearns of the era.
Haye vs Klitschko - I thought Haye would catch him in the middle rounds.
Mayweather vs Maidana - I thought Floyd would destroy him.
Margarito vs Cotto I - I thought Cotto would have bad spots but I thought he would box and win a clear decision. But when Margarito stunned him a little in the 2nd round I knew he was in trouble.
Maidana Broner really thought AB would outbox him for the full 12.
Cruz vs Frampton 2 thought Cruz would get out boxed and out fought.
Thurman Garcia i thought Keith would win but in a brutal war in which both men would batter each other.
Ggg Jacobs i belived Jacobs would win the first 4 then afterwards Ggg would dominate and ktfo by round 11 or 10 boy was i wrong.
Trout vs Lara I had my money on Trout to win a very technical high paced battle of southpaws.
Brook Spence i thought Spence would lose a very close UD with no KDs
Hopkins Joe Smith i predicted Bhop win a very boring UD
FLOYD VS PACQ AND CANELO i predicted in both fights Floyd would win in both being very hard faught technical wars and both men would give Floyd his toughest test since Castillo DAMN WAS I WRONG!
Lomenchenko vs Walters predicted Walters win MD in a hard high paced action fight.
Molina vs Prodnikov i predicted Ruslan would brutal TKO Molina in a one side beatdown with Molina haveing a few moments here and there.
Herrera vs Garcia Danny was coming fresh off Matthyse won and was post to dominate Herrera.
Herrera vs Gomez Herrera was post to take Gomez to school in a action pack bout.
Manny vs Horn i picked Pacquiao to brutally beat uo Horn for 12rds and even dropping him at least twice.
Theres more but thats all i got for now.
Lacey vs Calzaghe (Lacey was heavy favorite and I never really rated Calzaghe)
Rahman vs Lewis 2 (thought Rahman had his number and would ko him again)
Maidana vs Khan (I thought Maidana was going to spark him out, a little longer and he would have done)
Maidana vs Morales (Thought Morales was way past it and was worried he was going to get brutally KO'd, I though Morales just edged it)
Lewis vs Tyson (Thought Tyson would win, prime Tyson would have)
Hopkins vs Smith (After proving the doubters wrong so many times I thought Hopkins would do the same against a relatively unknown and untested opponent)
Fury vs Klitchko (Dont think anyone really gave Tyson a chance)
Haye vs Bellew (Thought it would end quickly and brutally in Haye's favour)
3 big ones:
Matthysse-Garcia
Kovalev vs. Ward 2
Broner vs. Garcia
I still think Matthysse could beat Garcia in a rematch, but maybe I'm not giving Garcia the respect he deserves or I've greatly overrated Matthysse's abilities.
The first fight between was a toss up, I didn't know who would win. But I was confident Kovalev would take the rematch. I was wrong.
Broner vs. Garcia was just upsetting and pathetic. Mainly due to the effort and poor gameplan on Broner's part. That fight completely changed my opinion of Broner who I think is pretty much finished.
