I know her card was ridiculous but bottom line was the fight was close as hell, people r using that 118-110 as an excuse to ***** on canelo. That score shouldn't take away from how good and competitive that fight was. Watched it 4 times already.
If it would have been 115-113 for Canelo instead the GGG fans would still be whining, but the boxing establishment as a whole wouldn't be upset.
It was a close fight, period. Don't want a questionable decision to go against you? Then don't let the fight be close, blow everyone out and you don't give them a chance to take it away from you. That's what worked for Mayweather, in 50 fights he only gave the judges 2 chances to call a close fight against him, they didn't and he gave immediate rematches to the guys and schooled them anyway.
What!!!! The boxing establishment is upset with a draw never mind a victory.
I'd still be upset and calling robbery if it was 115-113 for each and 114-114, but at least with that I would have been complaining about incompetent judges instead of blatant corruption.
Of course, look at the polls, only a few hardcore Canelo fans or GGG haters claim Canelo deserved the win. If she scored it 115:113 for GGG it would have still been a Draw in a fight that Golovkin won.
So there are some realistic people on here and it's not just GGGroupies everywhere crying robbery. I thought Canelo won the fight close but you can't argue a robbery either way. If you watch it without the commentary i'm more than sure you'll see it the way I did, very close. People who are saying GGG won clearly either got swayed or started watching boxing in the last year or less. Brainless trolls.
90% of people are brainless trolls? Virtually everyone thinks he won the fight.
You Fidel456, you speak the truth. If it was not for one card, a decision either way or the draw would be much easier to swallow from both factions as well as the casual fan.
Good fight. GGG should've known he would not get the nod if the fight went to the score cards. He could've done more. Canelo gassed. He could'e done more.
Regardless of what this outcome was, we are in for a rematch...I hope!

If the result was a draw with a closer scorecard, then people would still b1tch about it, but not nearly as much.
If Canelo won with a narrow score, people would complain just as much as they are now with the draw.
If Canelo won with that 118-110 score, people would be even more outraged.
The result wasn't as bad as the score. A draw to me is a gift but still fair and justifiable, but a Canelo win would have been seen as a robbery with that 118-110 score.
You'd still have certain crybabys that can't score fights to save their lives calling it one.
To be honest the people that are calling it a robbery don't know much about boxing, they are mostly casuals.
Yeah I think that scorecard cloud almost everyone judgement/anger. The anger is definitely justified doe. How anyone could see a close fight that wide is beyond belief. I think the other two scorecard defintiely makes sense, one or two points to either fighter or a draw etc am fine with that.
you're trying to combine two separate issues
was it a good fight, and was it a robbery
yes it was a good fight, but that's irrelevant to the issue people are heated about
you're basically doing what Oscar did in the post fight, trying to use the fight's entertainment value to overwrite the controversy
The question was if not for her scorecard would u still be mad about a draw.
You could defend a 115-113 card for Canelo. I think it is a stretch to give him the fight, but even though GGG had more of an edge and was more consistent, neither fighter really established and retained firm control. Canelo did some good work depending on your style preference.
A blowout scorecard like Byrd's is a travesty though. She has no business judging fights anymore.
this is why defense needs to be scored....
sure, 3g was moving forward pressing the fight, but he was all jab, no combos.
dozens of his rights missed canelo wide or landed on the top rope.
canelo landed way more body blows
3g landed way more jabs
they cancel each other out
whats left is who landed more*
*(when a guy throws 1000 punches, chances are he will land more. the % were almost identical)
if you're not doing something OFF your defense, it's not defense
otherwise you can just shell up/slip punches every round and expect to win the defense category. that isn't defense, that's avoiding your opponent
you need to use your defense to score, thats what defense is in boxing

I actually misheard that score lol and when I heard it was a draw by Buffer i thought it was fair (mainly because i expected a robbery). But if the score was not that stupidly wide i wouldnt have an issue. As far as i was concerned GGG won it by a fair amount.
I saw 116 -112 ggg and even rewatched to confirm; Jacobs had a tie on my card 6-6 with golovkin winning 114-113 cause of the kd. This was a much easier fight..
I had the Jacobs fight 115-112 for Golovkin but 6-6 yes completely in the realm. I had the same score as you in this fight.
Yes. Canelo only won 2 clear rounds. Golovkin won 6 clear rounds. 4 rounds were close.
The draw is not the answer, most people had it 8-4 Golovkin.
Which two rounds were clear, the 12th I assume and 2nd or 3rd? I agree overall though you had to give every close round to Canelo to get a draw. If that is what you are doing then that person has an agenda IMO.
