I mean against Canelo, he didn't look like his normal self. He appears to be aging before are very eyes and has lost a step; Especially when Alvarez was standing right in front of him on the ropes and he couldn't quite pull the trigger.
In addition, his timing, hand to eye coordination and accuracy was so off that he was missing punches that he would typically land in his sleep.
He looked liked he might have out grown the division and having trouble making weight as he gets older. Moreover, he's 35 years old now and has been fighting at the same weight class for his entire career.
In my humble opinion, I think a move up in weight could potentially reinvigorate him, because he'll be a lot stronger, with more power, timing and stamina to burn. As opposed to the dehydrated, tired and slower version of the Golovkin, we witnessed Saturday night against Saul Alvarez.
So what do you all think? Does anyone else agree that a move up in weight would benefit him?
What's crazy is that so many people are crying that GGG got robbed, but then at the same time they're making lots of excuses for him. It's like if he really won why make so many excuses? I get that he's super popular and everything but the fight was close because Canelo's the best guy he's ever fought. Just like him struggling with Jacobs. Who was easily the best guy he had fought at that point.
He struggled against those guys because they were significantly better than all the half-dead-bodies he fought before them. Simple as that. Common sense really.I get what you are saying. Even though, I had GGG winning the fight 7-3-2 or (117-113) on my unofficial scorecard, yet I still did not see a dominating performance from him. I believe he has declined and has lost a step. For example, his timing appeared to be a bit off as well as his power and hand to eye coordination.
His performance was less than stellar. It had more to do with what Canelo wasn't doing and that was to stand and trade in order to take the title away from the champion; Instead of fighting in spurts, by landing the occasional clean, eye catching and flashy combination punches every 30 seconds of a round, while retreating and circling out of harm's way without throwing anymore punches for the remaining minutes of each round.
GGG won this fight in my opinion, because he was the more active and busier of the two fighters and not because of his accuracy or punching power.

There's a destroyer at 168 named David Benavidez, ggg wants no part of him in a year or two.
Benavidez is one of the biggest GGG fans out there, GGG is basically his dad in Big Bear, he learned alot from GGG and sparred him a ton.
I am always glad to educate the casual forum kids.
I don't think he should move up to 168 unless he feels weak at 160. He has been fighting all his life so he would
probably know if making 160 is hurting his performance in the ring. Maybe he didn't look as good his last two fights because Jacobs and Canelo are damn good middleweights. He is one successful title defense away from tying Hopkin's record and two defenses away from breaking the record. I'd like him to stay at 160 and try to break the record.
GGG won the fight but Father Time loses to no man and tonight I saw GGG slowing down and not as accurate as he has been. Golden Boy waited until GGG wasn't what he once was and Canelo still couldn't stand and trade with him. GGG will lose the re-match to Father Time. Canelo just has to pro-long the re-match and show up on fight night.
benavidez who got dropped and looked like sh1t in his last fight against a bum. looool
Now he's duckimg Benavidez lol. U cant resonate these fools man. Dont even try.. its a loss cause. Some people IQ is just low. Not to be disrespectful but u can tell who's dumb.
The level of male groupie in this forum is unbelievable.
It's not that he can't pull the trigger, it's that he struggles badly to hit people who don't stand right in front of him. I thought Canelo beat him and kind of exposed him but despite that the rematch still needs to happen ideally as their next fight.

Moving to 168 may benefit ggg if he is having trouble making weight, but it really makes no sense businesswise.
Just no good names there except Chavez jr.. if guys like bute , Ward, and froch were still around, then yes, it would be wise to move to 168 for big money.
But the biggest legit fight for ggg would be badou jack, who brings no money but is extremely threatening.
I don't see the point of the move unless he is struggling with weight

He should break Hopkins record first and then move up or retire.

Not financially. He'd be a fool to move up before he unifies if that even happens. He could rematch Jacobs and/or Canelo for a nice payday. What's up at 168 financially. Not much.
