I keep hearing this talk that beating kovalev twice makes ward number 1 no matter what happens in this fight. The truth is that kovalev is a one dimensional fighter who can only fight on the outside. No short hooks or body punching except a straight right from a mile away. Alvarez is much more complete than frotch or kovalev. He is more versatile and has more tools than both combined together. Beating him puts ggg at number 1 p4p.
How is Kovalev better than Froch?
Kovalev's best wins are a 50 yr old(by decision) and Jean Pascal that Froch already beat.
and by your own admission, Canelo > Froch
there's no comparison.
Eye test. Froch had hell with Taylor and obviously Kov destroyed Pascal so I'm not sure Froch win all that much better. He also lost to Kessler who was on the decline. Got a bit of a gift in the first Groves fight too.
Froch is a good fighter, but he's not some legend his fans or Ward's try to portray.
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
OP wasn't saying this a year ago I promise you that
Thread just proves that Ward exposed the boy. The big bad wolf gets schit on now by the posters that use to be his biggest garglers.
And now same peeps are overhyping Canelo in preparation to give GGG more credit than Ward, aka suggesting that Ward moving up to fight the #1 of the above division is less notable than being the favorite against a guy moving up.
Same bs, different day.
He's better than Froch, but not sure on Kovalev yet. Funny thing is the people picking Canelo to smoke GGG are the one's that will call him a bum if GGG wins.

it's a fact of life.
lmao i was like LMAO @ Froch compared to Canelo. compare their resumes. Froch is overrated by the complected because that is still Ward's best win.
When GGG stops Canelo without any illegal tactics and biased refs/judges, he will be greater than Ward without a shadow of doubt.
Put whatever you want on your p4p lists. They're arbitrary and nobody remembers them a week later.
A bad decision and a ref-botched nutshot "KO" won't age very well though.
Well Canelo may well be better than Froch and Kovalev but lets not act like Kovalev wasn't considered probably top 5 p4p a year ago. Also Ward cleaned out 168, then went up to 175 and beat the man there who was considered one of the top p4p fighters in boxing at the time. I felt he lost the first Kovalev fight but still, he got the decision and won the rematch.
I say this as someone who is not a Ward fan at all and i am a GGG fan. Even if GGG beats Canelo, i still don't think it beats Ward's resume as a whole and moving up to beat Kovalev. I'd put GGG just behind Ward in the p4p rankings if/when he beats Canelo.
PFP is just personal opinion and not provable fact. Everybody can decide for themselves where the winner of this fight belongs on their PFP best list and it's too bad if someone else doesn't like it. Every boxing fan has the inalienable right to arrange their top PFP list any way they choose. I think GGG and Canelo are both better fighters PFP than Kovalev but if others disagree that's their right and their choice.

I agree with you with him being better than Froch, that's not really an argument. Froch was a caveman with a great chin. Very unskilled and sloppy.
As for Kovalev, I think they're about even. Kovalev is a little 1 dimensional but he's excellent in that one dimension. I think going forward Kovalev won't be the same force.
Canelo has a few more skills but he really doesn't have that X-factor. He's good at everything but not great at one thing in my opinion. His defense is good but it's easy to stay out of harm's way when you don't throw much. Plus his stamina is dog crap.
