I agree with everyone who says Alvarez has the better resume, better experience, and the better overall skill set. But one factor leads me to favor Golovkin and that's the fact Canelo plays the weight game.
If you were to ask what weight class Alvarez belongs to there is no real answer. He fights at Caneloweight.....I wouldn't be surprised if he holds a catchweight record. He fights Floyd at 152, Chavez Jr at 164, he fought several opponents at agreed limits of 155 and he has never fought at 160!
Meanwhile Golovkin knows nothing but 160, in that regard this is in his wheelhouse he has the advantage. In truth Canelo should of done what he always done and that's force Golovkin down to 158 Caneloweight. Golovkin's age plus a caneloweight may be the edge Alvarez needed.
I think Golovkin needs to do what he always do, it's Alvarez that will have to show some "Sugar Ray" type skills. Can he do that, with those flat, heavy feet, probably not
Now that the weigh in has taken place I still stand by this assessment. Alvarez constant playing the weight game will be his downfall tonight. I'd like to see the younger man win but we haven't seen anything from Canelo that suggests he can beat Golovkin. He certainly doesn't have a size, strength, or even speed advantage.

Golovkin fans would be wise to never speak on weight. The man is a notorious weight b1tch himself who has no problem dragging people up but is too afraid to move out of his sh1t division.
I think anyone can have a little wobble, even the best chins. I also think anyone can potentially hurt anyone. But what I'm saying is we have seen Golovkin hit by Canelo level punchers and he's still here. We just havent seen Canelo hit by a Golovkin level one. The chin question in this fight is more for Canelo simply because he's never had one shake off a hard punching middleweights shots before.
thats something i agree with
when i rewatch this fight with GGG and this turkish guy i have doubts too ,but seriously in both cases it was long time a go ,but GGG was mature man and Canelo was Kid ,also GGG freeze when he get cracked i dont belive his chin is so good if Canelo will land every round he will get GGG out of there.

Good points & I agree.
That is one of my most immediate questions that'll be answered first on Saturday.
Can Canelo handle GGG's power when GGG does land??? I think Canelo will make GGG miss more then anyone's made GGG miss then make him pay more than anyone's made GGG pay, but for sure GGG is gonna land some punches in there to & how will Canelo react to them? I suspect he'll do fine with it or fine enough with it, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have serious doubts about that when I re-watch that fight with Miguel's older brother no matter how long ago that fight was.
Yeah, that's what makes it such a great fight. We're going to learn alot about both guys, but I'd say particularly Canelo. If he has an iron chin he's got a good chance of winning this. I guess we'll just have to see.

Fight is 50/50. Since their speed is almost negligible as both are not significantly faster than the other, a couple of things needs to be found out once they are inside the ring.
A. Can both of them take both of their punches?
B. Who has better stamina?
C. Who will eventually take control of the fight?
What I wonder is how well Canelo takes Golovkins power. I mean, anyone could theoretically hurt anyone but we know Golovkin has handled big punching middleweights of at least Canelo's power level. But Canelo has never taken a shot from anyone even near the power of Golovkin. Alvarez will need to prove he has a good middleweight chin in this one.
I think this is a very dynamic matchup. Golovkin is pretty straightforward, but Canelo's approach will determine how the fight goes to a large extent.
I think Canelo can be effective in spots, but I think it will be a tightwire walk for him. He has faster hands and solid all around skills, but if he sticks around too long inside he's gonna catch some stuff he probably won't be able to take. At the same time, he doesn't have the legs or consistency to stay one step ahead and avoid getting pinned down the whole fight.
I think he will look better in spots, but GGG will prove to be the more solid, consistent fighter and eventually break down and possibly stop Canelo with his consistent pressure.
You probably didn't know but he fought at 150 caneloweight too a couple of times, even won his titles at 150 caneloweight before Floyd took em from him.
He has catchweight fights at 150lbs, 152lbs, 155lbs, and 164lbs, but folks round here want you to someohow believe that Floyd is the one that catchweighted him and not the other way around when the guy has been catchweighting his entire career.
Your right, it's so extreme that we don't know what weight class he is in. He has made a mockery out of junior middleweight, it's fascinating how they have allowed him to fight everywhere but 154

as of last year 160 was an adv for ggg just as any cw was an adv for canelo... today there will be no adv so canelo beats ggg at any weight...
D- analysis, if Canelo had all those suppose advantages than moving up to his natural weight should make this a walk in the park.
The simple fact is, Golovkin is more skilled and will look to make Canelo look silly when he proceeds to outbox him before stopping him in the late rounds when he's trying to get a break on the ropes.
How do you figure a weight class he has never competed in is his natural weight? Yet we do know that 160 is Golovkin's natural weight, that's got to mean advantage Golovkin.
Alvarez has better upper body movement and a stronger sense of self preservation than Golovkin. Alvarez will move out the way of a punch, Golovkin wont
GGG will move out of the way with his legs.
or better skills.
