Joshua is arguably the best heavyweight in the game plus he has a whole country behind his back. Meanwhile, the other four not so much. Boxing in America is dead and that really can't be refuted. But I was just wondering if Spence, Crawford, Ward, and Thurman were from the UK, would they be much bigger stars?
They would all be huge.
I think Thurman would be the most popular because he's got more about him personality wise.
Success doesn't always breed popularity here. Non-boxing fans like Josh because he's always got a smile on his face and he's built like a God. But all those fighters are dominating or have the potential to dominate. So they would be in big event.
If Eddie can squeeze two PPV's out of Brook and Bellew a piece. Then yeah, all those guys would be making big money over here. More so than they are over there.
Crawford, Ward, and Spence seem like closed books. They'd be no more popular than someone like Joe Calzaghe at best.
That sentence makes no sense. It's easier to become a superstar if you come from a place with less people?
The UK is heavily condensed, the state of Texas alone is 3x larger than the UK despite having 38 million less people.
It barely takes 9 hours to drive from top to bottom of the UK, you drive 9 hours in TX and you're still in TX. The US is massive and far more divided, the UK the opposite. It's easy to become a star when everyone is in such close proximity with so little variety compared to the US.
Who gives a fvck England is about the size of Arizona. How hard could it be to break through there?
Our population is about 20% of the USA's and according to BoxRec we have about 33% as many active boxers as the USA, so although we're smaller it's not as if we're Ireland or something. It's a big market and a big talent pool
They would be bigger relative to the size of the country, but I'm not sure they would be in absolute terms. Also, the UK market like the American market is biased towards personalities more than talent, so Thurman would for sure be bigger than Crawford
Difference is that the UK is a country as a whole...so if a fighter is champion...he is known all across the country. In the U.S....with its 50 states spread across such a vast area...someone can be popular in oakland or nebraska....but not in new york or philadelphia. That reduces the fan base and as such the amount of people willing to buy ppv or go to a stadium fight. In the UK you can drive from anywhere and see a fight in wembley stadium without it needing to be a vacation.

According to Nahmean in this thread he claims its harder.
If Joshua isn't known here then why would those 4 that he mentioned be bigger if they came from the UK? UK fans think that it's their time now, lmao. Nobody knows any of those mofos. Even Framps light went out real quick after he lost to SC. I like Framp but i can't forgive him or Santa Cruz for their reasons why they wouldn't fight Rigo.
Oh you talking about TBE Josh Taylor?! where you been?!
Josh Taylor vs Davis was the first boxing fight on chanel 5 in the UK in serval years.. Your stupid excuse doesn't excuse you.
American fans a dog sh*t. Idiot.
You call me an idiot but I wasn't the one watching Josh Taylor vs Ohara Davis! why cant you see your stupidity?!
Bruh you see that clown with A.J avi and sig dick-riding Anthony and creating anti-Wilder threads, bigging up euro-bums like Dillian Whyte we know what time it is.
Crawford and Indongo were never on free tv in America, how would people get interested in this fight? all things considered I think it was a success
did I mention that Toprank just signed a deal with ESPN and like told you before the American public is just starting to get familiar with championship boxing in this country after nearly 20 years!!! but they sure did tune in to Pacqiuao vs. Horn tho..yep. Cherry picker.

I think Thurman will be big if he is from the UK. He has KO power and provides good entertainment.
Ward, I am not so sure. I think he bores both US and UK audience.
The man equated Bellews win over a shot Haye to being better than anything Wilder has done because of Hayes name. They have no sports over there to watch while we have a many sports to watch. Anytime you see them dis America they're just jealous of us. After Joshua who can they mention that's worthy to discuss lmao?

Cherry pick numbers? I gave you examples of 2 British guys at 140 Davies vs Josh (No titles - On a channel with 20 million subscribers) vs (Crawford vs Indongo (All the titles - 100+ million Subscribers).
It's pethetic to think 2 British prospects got more views than the p4p king and undisputed champ Crawford.
Then at heavyweight I gave you an example of Bellew vs Wilder! (I didn't even mention AJ as he gets more views than every current American heavyweight combined x2)
Then I gave you the example of Ward and Froch.. 2 common opponents that fought.. You should be embarrassed that the loser is a bigger star than the winner of that fight. Just shows what a joke America boxing is. No cherry picking.. Just facts.

Boxing is just more popular in the UK and that's a fact. Wilder is absolutely irrelevant without UK.
The facts are Wilder receives more Google and YouTube searches from the UK than he does from his own country US! Just go on Google analytics to see the trends and Google activity.. The day of AJ vs Vlad was the day most people searched for Deontay Wilder on Google and YouTube for the whole year! Most fighters get thier biggest spike in hits and activity on the internet during thier own fights but Wilder got most his hits during AJ's fight. America is so pathetic that Wilder is more searched for and talked about in the UK than he is in the US.. FACTS.

The whole point of this thread is would those fighters be more popular if they were from the UK.. The answer to that question is a resounding YES! both Wilder and Ward admitted that themselves that they would be bigger stars if they lived in the UK! You're in denial if you think otherwise.. Just look at your ratings.
You cherry pick the numbers you want and neglect vital factors. You talk about Crawfords numbers don't mention Spence numbers or Thurmans...and lets pretend that major boxing matches were not on free TV for maybe twenty years in this country because unlike the dreary pitiful UK, Americans have REAL sports to enjoy like : NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, so basically we got other things going on over here than just one or two hype-jobs to get excited about...and lastly Its funny to think how you are probably going to give McGrrrregor full credit for the PPV in AMERICA but hate the fact that TBE is breaking records beating up a euro-bum.

And that last bit about McGregor.. I have no idea what you are talking about.
