This is silly. Floyd losing will not be bad for boxing, if anything it will be good. Floyd has stunk the joint out for years, avoided prime HOF champs for his whole career (never faced a prime atg), is a vapid moron who's making a cynical money grab in this mismatch.
The boy deserves to be humiliated, it would be fantastic if McGregor knocked him out.
Void's a worthless sack of sh*t whose never contributed anything but negativity to this sport and this sh*tty farce is just another example of his toxic presence/influence, but I'd happily support him maiming this annoying fenian f*ggot and ending his career and any future earning capacity.
Because this is boxing vs MMA. And if you were a boxing fan you would root for the boxer... I would root for Antonio Margartio over any of these MMA guys
If you really think about it, it's not just Floyd's legacy on the line. It's the legacy all the previous ATGs in this sport going as far back as SRR and even further.
Conor beating Floyd would invalidate the entire history of boxing. The Ali - Frazier rivalry, Hagler - Hearns, Duran-Leonard et al. Not only that, it would be the biggest upset in boxing history.
You'll never hear the end of it from MMA fans. If by some miracle it happens Boxing would become a running joke, a punchline.
Why do some find this so hard to understand? It would make the sport borderline obsolete in the eyes of many. Why would anyone take a sport seriously if someone who has never done it in their entire life beats one of the greatest fighters to have ever lived? I HATE Amir Khan, to my core, but if he was fighting Connor I would be on the bandwagon so damn quickly because I understand the repercussions of a loss and what it would do to the sport that I love.
Ummm actually I gave you 2 names to your hypothetical scenario. You decided to use triangle theories as rationale to counter my argument.
Truth is we'll never know because no one other than Floyd fought that list of fighters. That's like me asking if Mayweather can go through DLHs resume undefeated. Truth is no one knows. But don't try to push a hypothetical scenario that you can't prove as fact. Do you know the definition of fact?
He says he has an IQ of 150 and attended college at 11, so I guess so :o
It means that a person who boxed and stuck with only boxing for 40 years lost to a guy who started off as a plumber, and boxed a little bit, and committed to other disciplines in another sport. It not only takes away from the sport of boxing, but it takes away from the level of commitment and dedication to one and only one discipline. I've always prided myself as a boxing fan rather than an MMA fan because I favored a person who put 100% at one craft than 25% in Muay Thai, 40% BJJ, 35% boxing, 10% karate. McGregor winning means that 35% level of commitment just defeated 100% level of commitment. (These numbers are just spnhu eculations)
Superb post...and why I'm hoping Conor eats canvas
MMA deserves to supersede boxing, they've been much better for their fans, they don't BS around with fights, no 'marinating', delaying fights, overpaying fighters, overpriced ppvs etc.
In that case you should forget about this sport and go over to MMA.
it would mean he had amazing talent to crossover the sports. it wouldnt mean that boxing is somehow 'exposed' as a joke, its a sport that consists of top athletes just as every other sport. I couldnt care less if mayweather loses,it would make mcgregor a legend rather than destroy boxing. And the gloating from some UFC fans would be annoying, but the tears from mayweather fans would be something to behold lol

boxing is a form of fighting, but a boxing match is not a full fight, it's two fighters being restricted to one aspect of fighting.
so you can't rag on conor when he's telling the truth.
with that said, a great boxing match has drama and excitement that is very difficult for a real true fight to duplicate.
boxing and MMA both have their place in the sports world, but when someone points out that MMA is true fighting and boxing isn't, it's true, even if you find it aggravating to have it pointed out.
Mma isn't true fighting at all. I have followed mma since UFC 1 and helped train friends who have competed in MMA. Its nothing like what I would consider a 'true fight'. Less restricted than boxing sure but still....
I've won a state championship for freestyle wrestling and freestyle wrestling is a great base for mma. If I had to worry about eye gouges, scrotum attacks and ear rips (aka real fighting) every time i went for a takedown it would change everything.

I think for you, your hate for Floyd is bigger than your love for boxing.
I don't think you realize that if Floyd loses, it not only makes Floyd look bad but everyone he beat look bad. Pacquiao, Cotto, Canelo, Oscar, Mosley, etc. These guys are hall of famers in boxing.
The best boxer of his era losing to an MMA fighter would be a disaster for boxing. It can't be seen any other way.
Agree 100% about Floyd losing to a noob being a disaster for boxing.

I don't think one is "real fighting", and the other is, "half fighting". They both have their strengths and weaknesses, and yes, they BOTH have limitations, and potential that neither has. And they both have similarities.
Hell, most of the top fighters in MMA, and Conor the man himself included are the best, because of their superior boxing, and fans look at those guys as the best. So, really, a boxer that's a master at that craft can train in grappling for a year, to a few years, and have a great chance of being a force in MMA, just by virtue of already being a master at boxing, and having supreme hands.
Whereas, the MMA fighter that's a jack of all trades, but a master of none, assuming they're the prototypical MMA fighter, wouldn't stand a single chance in the squared circle even with years upon years of training. Not at the highest level at least.
I don't like Floyd, at all, and Manny beat him, but agree with most on the 1st page. As a boxing purist, first and foremost, which was my first combat sports love, before MMA, I wouldn't be able to stand the MMA, and Conor fanboys saying that boxing is officially soft, and even a boxing noob could beat their best guy. I just can't enjoy that, no matter how much I want Floyd to lose (to a boxer).
And TS, are you F'ing kidding me? This would literally make boxing look like complete ****, and a farce if a guy with a 0-0 boxing record beat, or God forbid, knocked out the best boxer of this generation, and possibly the most technically gifted boxer of all time. Are you living in some fantasy world that we aren't a part of?

no, it's not. it's the truth, whether you like it or not.
if you and i get into a fight for our lives, we are not limited to just punching. boxing is the sport of punching and not getting punched. but it's not the sport of fighting. the sport of fighting is MMA.
Boxing is fighting. Yeah, I'm most street fights, people grapple, but that's mainly because they panic, and don't know how to throw a proper punch, or scared to take a punch.
It's called panic wrestling. Do I think the UFC HW champ would mail the HW boxing champ, of course, but I'm not gonna call the boxing champ, half a fighter. That's completely ignorant, and disrespectful. If you wanna go that route, you can call the boxing HW champ, more of the warrior, since he can't avoid a fist fight by grappling and going for TDs. He has to take his licks like a man, deliver his own to try and beat his opponent, or has to defend against them with head movment, body movement, and technical boxing craft. Not by rushing his opponent, and taking him down, and avoiding getting punched.
Do I love MMA, of course. Do I think MMA fighters are complete bad asses, and would more than likely beat their boxing counter parts, of course. But would I call a boxer a half a fighter? Hell no.
Conor has people parroting that boxing is "half a fight" and isn't real fighting. As a boxing fan, I'd love to see old, fragile Floyd put a hurting on Conor to shut these clowns up.
The "half a fight" notion is absolutely abusurd and ignorant. People always say how tough and grueling grappling is, but always forget that every punch you receive, you stop breathing for that instant and have to hold your breath, and it's literally like not breathing, and punches take a whole hell of a lot more out of you, stamina wise, than graplling.
Why do you think the Diaz Bros always suffocate and drown their opponents? It's the punches in bunches that don't allow their opponent to breathe, and then they collapse from exhaustion, or the ref stops it, because they can't do anything.
A lot of people are completely ignorant to boxing and punching in general. Not to mention the mental stress of having to avoid punches from a pro level boxer that's coming at you with the speed of a lightning, and having to worry about getting your lights shut out.
Please try and tell me a grappling exchange is more taxing than a GGG, or any well placed body shot to certain spots, or any part of your body. It's not.
Boxing is the most physically demanding, and most cardio driven sport of any sport, period. And I love MMA.
MMA deserves to supersede boxing, they've been much better for their fans, they don't BS around with fights, no 'marinating', delaying fights, overpaying fighters, overpriced ppvs etc.
Completely agree with this, but your OP is still crazy as hell.

I agree I don't see anything bad about one of the best fighters of all time losing to a guy who has never boxed in his life. Something endless top boxers couldn't do.
That only makes our sport look legitimate.
Conor would then leave our sport talking about how easy boxing is as a sport.
