Australia is taking over boxing !
I agree except Horn has so many flaws to be exposed. He should be easily found for Thurman who has more power than manny at this point and can put him away eventually.
I dunno if Thurman has more power than Manny though. And even fi he does, like I said, he think he is a better boxer than he relaly is but he just runs around instead of actually boxing, just see the Porter and Garcia fights.
If Horn can be as active against Thurman, that running will just get him mauled.
But hey, I hope the fight happens.
It's based on an algorithm and if you look at their forum there is a post that explains it all. It's P4P based only on their program. It does come up with some silly ratings from time to time.
I think Spence wins too but thurman? I'd pick Thurman but not that confidently. Theg uy is smaller, doens't that hard at world level and thinks he is some sort of Leonard-esque boxer but he isn't. If he stands off like he did against Garcia, he going to get mauled by a much bigger man, much like Porter but the judges were stacked against Porter and the latter is only 5'6'' himself.

I'm not saying it doesn't mean something. Even if Manny HAD gotten the decision the performance requires one thinking more highly of Horn post-fight.
I'm just saying he's not reallllllly the number 1 guy at 147. I think Thurman is that guy now (for me anyway if forced to make a call) or you can argue the winner of Thurman vs Spence is that guy if you see it up for grabs.
And idk that we see Horn fighting any non-TR fighter for a long time if ever. I suspect we got the Manny rematch, Bradley &/or Crawford in the mix first & foremost. If he loses to Bradley or Crawford as I suspect he will then he'll get thrown in with Vargas or maybe Frankie Gomez if he starts fighting again or some other TR 147 guy. So basically its not getting worked out any time soon whatever happens. I think the earliest we see anything go down between TR & PBC top 147lbers is about this time next year after Horn has gotten beat more than likely & Spence vs Thurman have fought & Manny is finally retired.
yeah, Im' not holding out for a 147 unification. Hyamon cant even get his guys to fight each other sooner rather than later, let alone striking a deal with bob jewrum.
I owuldnt mind a rematch but Manny is done, Bradley coming back and winning is a title is fine by me but he has been gone so long, who knows, Horn might beat him. TC getting his first title at 147 against Horn would be fine with me too.
I understand all of it, but we all know what Boxrec is & the pros & cons of that sorta ranking system. It doesn't take into account actual boxing skills or bad decisions or closer decisions then the judges scored it. And those two things are why we all should know Horn isn't realllllllly the number 1 guy while understanding why he is number 1 on Boxrec.
And I'm not so confident a guy with such a bs defense isn't gonna be an easy, if messy or awkward for a round or two W for top ten guys & hell some guys outta the top ten.
He is a gutsy guy doe regardless of his limited boxing talent & I think his corner probably is adept at coming up with pre-fight & in-fight strategies to win based upon him coming up from the floor twice to KO his opponent plus intelligence of his high energy, overly aggressive to the point of wildness approach with Manny. So who knows, but I'd not have any faith in him not being KO'd in 2 or 3 rounds by a Thurman, Spence or Brook type guy or completely whitewashed or stopped late by a Porter or Garcia over the distance.
Eh, hopefully we'll find out what he does vs other top guys besides Manny.
I just wana point out I'm not a boxrec guy but his ranking at welter makes some sort of sense. I wouldn't put him top myself but beating Pacquiao means something.
All of this will sort itself out if the champs at 147 actually fight each other. Simplest way to get things sorted.
I think Spence and Thurman eat him alive honestly. Especially Spence he's all kinds of wrong for him. Rushing in against Spence like that he'd get countered hard not to mention the body work. Pac had almost 0 body work and its something Spence excels at. Id give it 5 rounds max....Thurman in under 8.

The p4p ranking is bs but I can understand his welter ranking. It's pretty obvious, he beat Pac. Its like Bradley all those years ago, regardless of the decision, I could see why he would be ranked one (if he was).
Personally, he slots into the top 3 slot behind Thurman and Spence.
I honestly don't think anyone at welter beats Horn so easily.

Danny & Porter are top ten guys still. Top ten guys are elite by my definition, but should be elite enough in most peoples boxing dictionary's. And Horn isn't beating either of those guys with his primitive skills. Guy is too basic. Works hard, has an awkward style & gots a will to win, but he's basic as f#ck & his defense is beyond exploitable by a high level in their prime type fighter.
The guy is Buster Douglas minus the 40lb weight gain in between fights. He's a top 20ish, top 30ish guy who got amped for this fight & performed beyond his normal capabilities I'd even argue based upon seeing past fights.
Pacman beat 2 top10 wws last year ,Pacman was top 5 WW ,and Horn beaten him ,IMO Porter is in his range ,porter himself is very sloppy fighter yet he gave thurman hell.
I'm not surprised people are acting like Horn is some force at the elite level at 147 today cuz whatever you think of the decision he performed to his max ability vs a future HOFer & even if you think he lost he did well with what he has & made it a competitive & hard fight for Manny. That said I anxiously await seeing you guys posting today about Horn like he's the man in 12-18 months when a lot of you guys acting like he's a force at 147 are calling him a bum cuz he took a L or two.
In the meantime I'll be the guy downplaying him today & hyping him 12-18 months from now.
im not saying his some elite force ,but his a force ,he can take on guys like Berto,Garcia(for me his not elite in 147) and porter) ,if i will see more from Horn then i will say if i think he can beat Thurman or spence.
Boxrec is a points system, if you beat someone you get some of their points. Manny Pacquiao had a lot of points. Why is this so hard to understand
Yeah this was to be expected from BoxRec.
Pacquiao had the 2nd most points of any active boxer on BoxRec, and Jeff Horn won on paper. Of course his score was going to shoot up.
I think people underestimated Horn too much. I thought that this kid would just be a slow plodding Margarito type of opponent because of how he looked on his past fights but he surprised me how fast and awkward he is. He has a huge gas tank also.
yes he is very akward ,way he moves and this right lead is very good ,nice punch selection, imo he should go for Berto or Garcia now.
LOL I love boxrec, but yea this is one of the failings of a computer program. The scariest part of that isn't even he's #8 P4P cuz I think P4P is bs. The really scary part is he's the #1 147lber now & I think most of the top ten straight murders this guy.

Idk about that. I think Porter schools him & stops him & idk that he's top 5 right now. I like Brook against him even with his robot face. I think Danny beats him & honestly Horn woulda fit right into Garcia's schedule in between Matthysse & Thurman when he fought a lot of bs guys. I even think lower level guys like Algieri & Jessie Vargas, previous Manny victims, have competitive fights with him if not beat him.
Not impressed with Horn at all boxing skills-wise. He showed good stamina & a willingness to go for broke vs a superior opponent, but beyond that & being a bigger, younger guy last night I think Horn is going to be a Buster Douglas here today, gone tomorrow type title holder who peaked last night. Its all downhill from here. Or at least after a rematch with Manny if that is what happens.
Porter schooling anybody is blowing my mind ,that would be heeluva fight doe ,Horn is all wrong for Danny ,he was walked down by peterson ,Horn is relentless ,he would beat danny up.Thurman and spence are out of range.
