Obviously they don't fit exactly the same, and you can say Jacobs has a bit more power, but Lara is a southpaw, and definitely a slicker and more tehcnical fighter. You think he could've would've beaten, or at least given GGG all he can handle?
Especially knowing how much trouble Jacobs gave him? Or, do you think GGG rolls him, and hurts him, since he might not be as tough as Jacobs, even though he is tough as hell himself. What say you, boxing scene?
Jacobs had the size and power to keep GGG away. What's their difference in reach? That might would play a factor, but I don't think Lara has what it takes to keep Golovkin from advancing and, at some point, cornering Lara
beat me to it
No. Big size difference and power difference between Jacobs and Lara. Those two things aided Jacobs in making the Golovkin fight competitive along with the skills he brought to the table but those two things in particular prevented Golovkin from just running through him and allowed him to make a fight out of it.
I like Lara even though I feel he doesn't do enough at times to capitalize when an opponent is over matched. I think as good as Lara is, he is too one dimensional to an extent when it comes to his style. Jab-left-circle out. Golovkin has too much versatility when it comes to his offense that he would catch Lara eventually. The one thing Golovkin has is that he is a very creative puncher with good timing. In a nut shell I believe that Golovkin's offense is better than Lara's defense.
Absolutely not. Jacobs is much bigger and a better puncher than Lara.Jacobs knocks out almost everyone he fights. Lara went life and death with slow plodding Angulo. Lara was held to a draw by Molina.A Canelo who was not as good as he is now damn near chased Lara out of the ring. Lara would just be another GGG KO victim. He is no threat to GGG at all.
Lara is slick as fugg but don't have the "Pop" at 154lbs let alone against bigger guys. GEE would walk right thru him, Cut off the ring and put him down within' 5rds. Slickness/Power of Rigo is what makes him possibly the best out there right now. (Lara only has one of those things)
I'd watch it, But wouldnt bet Erislandy...
Funny how GGG fans have turned Jacobs into this killer now. We honestly don't know if Jacobs is good at all. He gave GGG a close fight, I thought Jacobs won that fight, but have zero problem with GGG getting the decision.
Jacobs used his length well to control the distance and he did well when he moved, but really, he ate jab after jab and in the end didn't do quite enough to convince the judges. Why do we think Jacobs is anything better than a B level fighter now? Because he beat Sergio Mora? He beat an unproven Peter Quillen which is still a solid win, but that's about it.
I like Jacobs, and I like GGG for that matter, but both of them have some mystery as to how good they really are. I realize the tendency for fans to paint vanquished opponents of their favorite fighter as the big bad wolf, but Jacobs is still an unknown commodity.
This is what makes boxing great though, no one really knows how good GGG is, he certainly has a lot of skill as a boxer, that is obvious, but he just hasn't been in there with many proven fighters. His power seems great, but every good fighter's power looks great against chumps. Canelo is a great match up, Canelo is a much more proven commodity than GGG IMO. We know Canelo has been in with several A level fighters, even if a couple of them were older. But GGG is the bigger fighter and he seems more complete to me. I still make GGG the slight favorite, but he's going to be in with a fighter that presents speed and skill challenges that GGG has never come close to seeing before. Really could be a classic, and I would love to see a 3 fight series.
Lara aint slick at all IMO. He's very good at measuring and controlling distance, but he doesn't slip and roll punches on the inside or on the outside for that matter. He gets hit less because he is contantly circling and moving around the ring but if he corner him all he does is cover up and then look for an escape route again.
He might make the final bell and might be competive, but I feel he would get dropped at some point, maybe even twice one with a head shot and one with a body shot. That would make it difficult for him to get a decision even if he boxed GGG's ears off in between those instances.
hard to say as they are completely different fighters but i would give Lara a chance to at least hear the final bell due to his superior back foot movement
Size is big factor imo. Lara is average size 154-pounder, Jacobs is probably the biggest Middleweight out there..
Another thing is I don't think Lara has inside defence, he usually just picks his hands up, while JAcobs can roll a bit and clinch quite effectively..
I think at 160, Jacobs beats both Lara and Canelo. Good fighter, great athlethe.
