First opponent, undefeated, so that's good, but he didnt offer to much, so there is not much to analyze.
From what I've seen in the two rounds, Yoka doesnt look very fluid and looks rather robotic.
Was caught once from a left hook by leaving himself open after throwing the right straight.
Let's see how he will develop and also interesting to see how good Hunters trainer skills really are.
looked decent, but similar to Joshua's debut (vs a 7-0 guy) I have no idea from watching him how he got that record.
Actually i do, they were fighting goat herders and taxi drivers.
Still. Decent enough Debut from Yoka. Good to see a big crowd. The French boxing scene used to be one of the biggest in Europe. Could this be the dawn of a resurgence? I hope so.
He's also on Canal +. Schaefer betting big on Yoka.
He was too patient imo, he has power he kO'ed an undeafeated fighter, but patience like that will get you KO'ed against Wilder and Joshua
It's his first pro fight and you're matching him up with world champions? :lol1: he still needs to adapt his style to the pro game ffs
Great to see that Yoka already has a huge backing, that crowd was really eating it up. Props to his camp for putting him in with an undefeated guy that would at least come to fight. That dude might have passed Gonzalo Basile for the most tatted up dude in boxing. Yoka fighting guys like Leonet, Arrami and Aurieng for the French title soon would make sense
records can be very misleading, that guy is basically the equivalent of a 8-18 kind of guy.
Still, i guess its better than fighting another 1-3 guy which is what other promoters do.
I still think he needs to be managed very carefully, i thought he was lucky to get the decision over Joe joyce and i suspect he is packing glass.
Hope he proves me wrong and get's to the top of the division in the coming years.:boxing:
Yeah his defense did not look great. But it was his first pro fight. So I will not be to critical of him.
Also better to beat an guy with and undefeated record than somebody with a losing record.
Yeah he really was. But those guys he beat was nothing special really.
No worthy opponent on his resume.
But still cool and guy with a record of 0-0 beats a guy who was 12-0.
But okay Tony has to Olympic gold medals. One in the youth and the other at the summer Olympics.

that fat little pudding was 12-0? seriously?

For his first fight in his pro debut against a guy who was 12-0, and he blasted him within two rounds, I say it was a pretty good pro debut.

Im not that super impressed with his performance, but it was his first fight.
He got his a little bit too much and looked s little sloppy. But even though he has a great trainer in Virgil Hunter. So I think and hope he can be the future top guy in the heavyweight division in some years.
Oh and by the way, he has the whole country of France behind him, just like Joshua has with the United Kingdom.
That can help him tremendously by becoming a star.
Oh and lastly, he is a heavyweight and he does speaks english which is a great thing for promoting yourself.

But why? I would argue that IMPATIENCE would get him KO'd against those guys. By going for it early, he would leave himself open to all kinds of stuff coming back. He can be impatient with the type of dudes he's meeting now, but not the top guys.
You gotta a point but standing still and feinting will get you ko'ed against the very aggressive Wilder and Joshua

There's a fine balance there though isn't there. If you're too patient you give guys the chance to recover and blast you out (like Joshua did to Klitschko) but if you're too impatient you'll either leave yourself wide open or just punch yourself out (also like Joshua did with Klitschko).
Would have liked to have seen far more combinations there in that fight personally... for the most part it seemed quite robotic.
Full fight of the French heavyweight for anyone who missed it.
Not bad to take a man who was 12-0 for a first fight.
That Ali shuffle was a bit too mcuh lol
