i thought it was all a bluff when he said they took a page off floyd's book but junior really tried to box the better skilled fighter....not saying it's only nacho's fault coz junior chickened out throwing only 25 punches per round...hell, rigo throws more than he did....WTF!
Great conditioning; horrendous fight plan!
I don't think Chavez wins in any scenario, but he was a fish out of water.
Can only imagine the following conversation between nacho and Chavez sr. ....guarentee it's not pleasant.
The real blame is on jr. For half assing the sport all these years and believing he can turn it on like a light switch when the stage presented itself.
But nachos attempt to turn Chavez jr into Juan manual Marquez almost overnight, is incomprehensible! For his sake, i hope its a sound contract because id be looking for loopholes to dock his incompetence.
Blaming Nacho Is simply an attempt to deflect from Jr's terrible performance. As the fighter, and after 6 rounds of getting knocked around the ring and beaten up, Jr should have made whatever adjustments necessary to give himself the best opportunity to win, starting with letting his hands go and throwing punches. Head movement would have also been beneficial. Any effort other than making weight and collecting a paycheck(even If he would have went out on his back) would have allowed him to remain marketable and respected with the Mexican people. At this point I don't think the fans would or should stand behind him, even If he offered his next fight for free. In the end, Jr gave up his marketability, credibility and respect for 3 million dollars. Hopefully It ends well and was worth It to him.
I think he threw the fight. They already had the GGG WWE entrance & announcement planned. Imagine how dumb that would have looked if Canelo had lost...
You think a proud legend like Chavez sr would EVER let his son and name be involved in throwing a fight? Why hire nacho a great trainer if you just plan and throwing a fight? Get real people. Canelo was whooping him and chavez had no answer to what was happening to him. It's that simple.
I said it all training camp picking nacho was a mistake. First they had Chavez too damn light, then he started talking how he wanted Chavez to try and out box canelo when everyone knows he was the superior skilled and faster fighter his only chance was to come in big and try to bully canelo. Nacho just confused chavez. Nacho is just not a good fit for chavez style and 1 training camp is not enough time to re-wire a 30 year old fighter.
WTF is nacho supposed to do, you guys act like nacho is supposed to turn Chavez into his father...
Fck is wrong with you people, Chavez is a bum and always has been, he did exactly what he's always done, you guys act like Chavez was ever good, he's always been a bum.
I think the strategy was to cash out their fighter and use his size to protect him from taking a beating. Their primary focus in training camp seems to have been to ensure that he made weight so he didn't take a financial hit.
To me Chavez' mind had a conflict between wanting to follow Nacho's plan and wanting to follow his natural instincts to brawl.
He got caught in between and froze. One training camp is simply not enough for a new trainer's style to take hold, especially a style as cerebral as Nacho's.
junior did throw him under the bus but nacho did not do himself a favor when he revealed his game plan that actually matched what junior tried to do in there....
I thought it was crazy he threw Nacho under the bus in the post fight presser. I mean you can certainly accuse the trainer of a bad plan in any losing performance or even a winning performance if things were rougher than due to that plan.
I just don't know that you can throw your trainer under the bus when you don't actually even try to win. Or throw punches. Or meaningful punches. I mean JCC Jr had Canelo against the ropes begging to be hit & he did nothing. He'd come forward, get in front of Canelo & do nothing. It was one of the strangest performances I've seen in such a high profile fight.
I legit think maybe he threw his life savings on the over or something & is collecting a nicer payday then we know about as we speak.
Totally agree with you, he basically did nothing and the judges scorecard reflect that to the exact point. You see Canelo going to the ropes and you think hmm Chavez is going to have a go at him now but nope, he rarely threw the left jab, I thought he broke his hands or something. He really his lucky that is last name is Chavez.
Chavez already kind of blamed nacho, he looked for excuses every time and he found one here again. He sounds retarded with his excuse. At this level you don't need a trainer to fight for you in the ring. You can see what is in front of you and then you need to adjust accordingly. Nothing Nacho could have said to make Chavez fought any better. Maybe they had the wrong gameplan going in but when you are there you study the opponent in front of you then you can make changes yourself.
It's more likely that Golovkin's team paid Chavez to take a dive.
They didn't want to see their chance at a big money fight slip away.
lol yeah very reasonable thing to do like GGG can afford to pay ****load of money
Nacho didn't do anything. It's called they paid the man to not phuck up the September fight that was already agreed to. It's blatantly obvious they paid Chavez to show up and not throw punches in order to ensure the lil G fight was intact. Had Chavez beaten Candela's ass, GBP's entire plan would have been wasted.

in jrs case, trainers are not there to teach him technique. theyre to get him in physical shape.
jr was never any good. it was all his last name.
nacho made a very amateurish mistake, he tried to build chavez from the scratch , chavez is 31 ffs...a great coach would've maximized his fighter's strengths, nacho did the opposite
when jr had him on the ropes, what EXACTLY happened ?
:lol1:
he did not throw punches like he usually did then when he backed away he ate way more punches..
then again junior did the same **** vs sergio too until the last rounds
''better'' in this case would have been an early ko loss instead of a 12 rd humiliation :dunno:
lol, canelo was pummeling chavez on the outside....junior is best on the inside...your math dont add up
nacho had nothing to work with. the best 10 trainers in the sport couldnt have done better.
he could've atleast made a gameplan which was not opppsite to his style
robert garcia would've done a better job, ...hell i thought he was the perfect coach for junior
as freddie roach used to say "i have the better fighter" or in this case nacho had the "much much worse fighter" you can only do so much. nacho likes money
we all knew nacho had the inferior fighter going into the fight but he minimized their chances by giving junior that dumbass gameplan ....i'm disappointed coz i thought nacho was better than that, tonight he looked like an amateur along with his punching bag pupil
I think he threw the fight. They already had the GGG WWE entrance & announcement planned. Imagine how dumb that would have looked if Canelo had lost...
