Ya'll think boxing is rock em sock em robots..Joshua got dropped by a 41 year old shot to sh1t Klit....Fury made Wlad look like a damn fool and he himself is not even that good.. a little movement makes average fighters look terrible..But of course yall call that running instead of skill..Sure the fight was entertaining to casuals but what i saw was an old man capitalizing on a young mans mistakes,,and a young man stopping an old man who had his best days beating up fighters we cant even remember the names of..Wlad fought who he had to fight but who will actually be remembered who he defeated?? I wish Joshua nothing but the best as he is on the right road but please stop overrating this fight
The fight was amazing. I never thought I'd rewatch a Wlad fight ever, but I did. I was quite impressed with his display of skills and determination. Wlad was something else against Joshua.
Kudos to both fighters.
and FFS this is HW. those punches would have put any man in the world on his butt. the jabs alone will get you reeling late in the fight when you're tired. you're not going to be able to show as much "skill" when you're 240 lbs and exhausted from fighting another huge dude.
that was a great fight. larry's just bitter about some of the gripes with floyd mayweather's career. mainly that he never fought prime greats, and that most of his fights weren't all that exciting.
His undertone for everything that he posts points back to Floyd. It's ridiculous
There's always gotta be that one small group of fans that's too cool for a great fight. This was not a "rock em sock em" robots fight. There was a lot of technique and skill on display and it was an incredible fight to watch. Get over yourself
Larry you a good dad to your kids and I respect you for that.
But shut the fuk up with all this "skills" "rock em sock em robots" sh1t. Boxing consist of many different styles. If you a true fan you appreciate all styles and applauded the flawed fighters who put more heart, effort, and desire into boxing. Than some wannabe skilled guy who has ego and don't give a fuk about anything but money.
Now stfu.

It was a great fight, period. It was great because of the recoveries by both fighters, you rarely see that.
But the Op has a point. Vlad is pretty shot and AJ has a lot of holes in his game. Still, that was very exciting to watch.
And I think there's always been a segment of boxing fans that want rock em sock em robots. You can see the factions in Ali-Frazier, many Frazier fans hated Ali because he boxed and didn't just stand there and trade. I think MMA has made this faction that wants slug fests more visible. MMA fans are used to seeing guys who don't know how to slip a punch getting their skulls rattled by looping shots. That just doesn't happen often in boxing.
This right here.
What I thought watching the fight is this is why I always liked heavyweight boxing which is not quite the same as boxing in the lower divisions. It is what I really got into watching in the early 90's when I was a young lad and pulled me further in with like Ibaebuchi-Tua.
Over the decades I have picked up a taste for smaller fighters because heavy has been disappointing, but nothing beats the big guys when then put on a show and last night they put on a real show.
good post!!!
I liked the fight, im more of a technical boxing fan and enjoy that aspect of the game more but this was a god arse fight. Joshuah needs work yes but he did his thing and showed heart. I like all styles of boxing, these kind of fights are good for the sport as well
b1tch please..i never reported you..ill gladly beat you to sleep
Careful what you wish for Larry! You have soft facial features and will lump up like a sack of apples.
Just saying.

shut yo racist ass up and fvck off b1tch,.seriously i get tired of your racial ass agenda..you are a h0e and pure pu22y..you talk all this pro black sh1t but when a black man wants to fight you ..you threaten to shoot him and his kids..you are no better then the damn KKK..you are literally a piece of sh1t and i would love nothing more then to beat the dog sh1t out of yo h0e ass
Pot, meet Kettle!

Gotta disagree with you homie. I thought this was a great fight.
Real drama. Real entertainment. Both men came back from what appeared to be the end. The right hand from wlad that knocked aj down. The uppercut from aj.
You could argue the stoppage was a bit premature. I also understand the point you are making. That said, I think you are being overly critical of this fight.
I would welcome a rematch or aj/fury or aj/wilder because I think we will get more drama and entertainment even though we won't be watching a boxing genius.
This right here.

I agree with your point about nothing entertains quite like a great hwt fight, which is what I thought Joshua/wlad was.
I thought last night showed that a lot of fans on here were raised watching mainly welterweights.
This is perfect. The last time anyone seriously watched a Heavyweight era was the 90's, so most fans on here were definitely grew up to smaller men fight.
Last night wasn't remotely close to a rockem sockem heavyweight fight. That was just a very good exciting heavyweight fight with bursts of aggressive activity.
Skillset was on display last night in a way most welterweight fans don't understand and fail to recognize.
The bottom line is this:
AJ is a household name in the UK. He is front page news and the reason is that he's a heavyweight.
As massive AS Hatton was, AJ will be bigger simply because it's still the glamour division.

This thread was a bad idea, Larry.
There's absolutely no such thing as an incorrect preference, and if people prefer fights like last night's, its their prerogative. It doesn't make them any less fans of the sport than those who didn't like or rate it highly.
Mayweather is my favourite fighter of all time, no doubt. But he chose the heel role, because it ensured him high paydays. It resulted in people harbouring legitimate feelings of dislike towards him, and threads like these only serve to draw such people out of the woodwork to start hating on him; which is their right.
To try and discredit last night's fight, which was entertaining and filled with dramatic moments that actually draw people to the sport only makes you come across as bitter, and whiny. Don't do that to yourself.
Last night was good for boxing. 2017 is good for boxing, especially after the damage May v Pac did to casual interest, and then 2016 as a whole.
This is a petty thread, man.
This is the boxing hipster mantra if I ever saw it. AJ was the one behaving more like a prospect by turning it up a notch too much and almost paid the price. That's how it happened but he could've easily ended like up Izu Ugonoh. Yeah, most fans are going to like that type of drama. It's ok to like this. If you're saying that wanting every fight to be like this is BS well then I'll agree with that.
What's going on in your sig?
This reminds me of people that love NL Baseball, with bunting, hit and runs, pinch runners and say that AL baseball with the DH is blasphemous. Or ****ing Big Ten football fans who love 3 yards and a cloud of dust and winning games 9-6 and curse anybody who can enjoy Big 12 and Pac 12 football slinging it all over the yard. Sad that apparent "boxing fans" can't enjoy something like we got yesterday.
