I mean, if he's awarded another gift decision he's gotta plummet on the P4P list.
He lost by my a cord(I was rooting for him), as well as alot of other peoples as well and if he doesn't step it up then hes undeserving of the P4P1 spot...
Thots?
Andre Ward's fitness seemed under par in their first fight! and his body looked really soft! He needs to improve his conditioning, and even from a technical perspective? he was not capitalizing on the inside! Kovalev looked like the better conditioned boxer, but he made the classic mistake of coasting up against a stylists like Andre Ward! when you face a fighter like Andre Ward, due to his style? close rounds will always seem to be won by these fighters! its almost as if fighters like Andre Ward, Bernard Hopkins and Floyd Mayweather create an illusion! Slick fighters have the ability to almost manipulate matter & time inside of the ring, like some kind of marvel or DC superhero!
I don't think Kovalev will make this mistake during the rematch, and he will pressure the fight hard from the opening bell!
We have now been made aware that Andre Ward fought the first fight without implementing any road work/Running within his training program! this validates my original perception that his fitness and conditioning was off! (Where as most other people where stated that his conditioning was great! Looks like i was right!)....
Yeah, keep telling yourself that. Just like history remembers Bradley for beating Pacquiao. Okay.
That might be a little steep, but my point is boxing is never as black and white as you're making it. Boxing is one of the only sports where you can actually lose in the ring, and win on the cards. So no, it's not how you say it is. If you're one of those guys that's satisfied with just paper wins then I guess we're comparing apples to oranges. I'm a little deeper than that..
Anywho, I'm not here to argue the point. Ward needs to make a statement, period. Last time was no statement.
You can look a little deeper and so can I. I understand pac Bradley, there have been many robberies in our sport which gives it a black eye I am dismayed by.
However this was a close fight, you saw it one way, i and the judges saw it another. You can say well my friends and I think kov won, and I hear that. But I feel differently and trained judges agreed with me. Now arguments can be made both ways but Ward won and it was controversial so kov is getting a rematch. He needs to improve more than ward because Ward did what judges deem victorious. Simply put

The majority of media had Kovalev, the majority of boxers had Ward.
Why so serious?
the majoirty of boxers? so every boxer on the planet was polled? can i see that please
You don't tell other people "period", when you're not in position of force. This makes you look foolish. People are not blind and this is not mid 20th century, when if the footage was lost, only opinions of the ones who sat ringside mattered. Fight is on youtube for all to see and score.
Your judging a YouTube fight is subjective, judges judging a live fight is official. One position is absolutely more "forceful" or meaningful or significant or impactful or whatever word u wanna use. Hint* the official opinion is the position of force.

Only die hards do that. And kov may be your champion but in real robberies like Paul Williams Lara, judges get suspended. So there's been a precedent set for what happens when fighters get robbed.
Now when a close fight occurs and one sides fans are butt hurt, there are no suspensions, there is no acknowledgement of wrongdoing by the sanctioning bodies, the belt just changes hands and you guys are left to console each other. Without recourse.
The statement is the win. Nobody cares about conversations after the fact. History will remember it as a close fight that Ward won. Period.

The post fight interview was awkward, everyone telling Ward they though he lost and him blaming the crowds boos on Kovalev..... Some statement. :loser:

But he doesn't though, because he made a winning statement last time.

It was a slow paced fight, and he was shuffling upon his feet! He was the worst i have ever seen him! If he does not improve for the rematch, he is getting knocked out or stopped!
I am not sure how you can claim that his conditioning was superb at all!
I don't think he's suited to lhw.
Andre can't make statements he's one dimensional all he knows is jab clinch and throw a illegal body shot during the break up, that's litteraly his game plan every fight.
You know what good point... lol

People can score the fight however they want, but it was an obviously close fight. imo, Kovalev took the first two, 3-5 were generally close rounds, and I had Andre Ward basically sweeping the final 6 rounds (behind his aggression and inside fighting, and Kovalev's not wanting to fight).
The rematch likely plays out the same way, but more decisively; Ward seeing what Kovalev has with him for the first 2-3 rounds, making the adjustments needed, and likely washing the back 8 rounds.
yes ward won 375 rds in a row from sergi
He didn't win tho... He should have that L. I watched the fight. I can't see it.

Boxing is full of corruption, when you have James Prince making sure his fighter wins, when a fight is held in the USA with US Ref and US Judges, the American Hero fights the Evil Russian Enemy, the opponent basically needs a knockout.
Kovalev vastly dominated the first fight. If the roles were reversed, Ward would have gotten almost a shutout on the cards and no one would have questioned that decision.
Seems like Ward again just has to survive and make a couple rounds close, every round that Kovalev doesnt totally dominate will go to Ward by default.
Ward will fight dirty, headbutt, throw single jabs and clinch, hold and wrestle and try to land punches while he is holding. He will not change, he is not able to outbox a fighter his own size with some skills.
