I'll put up a poll.
Who is the face of American boxing?
This poll is only for American fighters. I wanna know what members of BoxingScene consider the face of USA boxing.
Imo, I feel there's no clear cut face of American boxing. You can make an argument for Wilder, Ward, Crawford, etc but to me, it doesn't seem clear as lets say if Floyd came back, then you be like, "oh ya, he's the face of American boxing for sure"
I don't think there is one right now. If Wilder beats the Joshua/wlad winner then he would most likely be the face.
If Broner had any semblance of professionalism and took his craft seriously imo he'd be the face right now given his charismatic personality.
edit: if Crawford were to get a Manny fight this year and have a dominant performance in a clear win then maybe he would become the face of US boxing.
No one.
Is MIKEY American? His English is kinda **** but he is probably the most talented of the lot. TC may be the most accomplished, possibly thurman but no one has captured the American public.
Or any public lol

Keith does the best numbers and his resume is only second to Dre's!
You're right there isn't a clear cut guy right now.
If Floyd comes back and fights McGregor then it's him. But even retired he's still dominating the headlines.
Btw, you should've put Errol Spence up in the poll too, because he may be on the way to becoming the face of American boxing.
But based on the names you provided I narrowed it down to Ward, Thurman and Crawford.
Ward can become the face, but his fights are too boring. He definitely needs a good dance partner to peak interest. He has that in Kovalev. But he doesn't draw, he's not a big draw.
Crawford is great, but his division is empty, no names there. He needs to move up to Welterweight, if he makes some noise at Welterweight then he may very well become the face.
I actually chose Thurman on the poll. I think whenever he fights you want to watch. He has the personality and charisma to be the face. He's changed up his style since raising his level of competition. He moves a lot more now. I definitely miss the knockouts. If he was still fighting like he used to when he was knocking people out, he would be even more popular. But I understand why he changed up a little.
But overall I say Thurman is the face of American boxing. Not by much though. Arguments can be made for a few guys. But at the moment I say Thurman.
Oh forgot to mention, if Deontay Wilder were somehow able to become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World and win all the belts. Then no doubt it would be Wilder as the face. But he has to step up his level of competition and start fighting the top guys and the other champions.
didn't vote
but the names I narrowed it down to were Deontay Wilder, Andre Ward, and Keith Thurman/Danny Garcia (still think that they'll end up in a trilogy that does massive business, with the winner standing tall until Errol Spence Jr comes through).
Mikey Garcia being just behind that group.
Who cares, boxing is a sport that to me shouldn't be defined by culture/race/nationality.
You like who you like, I dont decide who I like based on any criteria other than if I liked watching them fight. Im always amused by you ****ers that go to bat for a guy who is obviously going to get his dome cracked just because he looks like you. Shit is funny as fuck to me.
if there anyone that should be, is in the vacuum Floyd left at WW because at least the casuals were maybe still are of the division. Thurman has the best wins in that division and could be more popular if he fought regularly, but the last 2 wins over porter and dsg, that's better than brook, khan, Spence etc, but he just doesn't seem popular at all, as with Crawford and Ward, is it just their lack of charisma?
voted other as it's clearly still Floyd, this McGregor fight is more hyped than anything else happening, including if aj won and announced a fall fight with wilder. as it's a fight that's been passed by nsac, Floyd must still have a licence?
