Last year he was asking for money to build a new gym.
Sadly he was only able to get $620 when he needed like 150k if I remember correctly.

Some people just lose their minds when they make more money than they ever dreamed of.
It's easier said than done, but if I TODAY was given 15 million dollars, shave off of the taxes, buy a house (maybe 4/5 rooms), pay off my debts, and set the rest aside in the bank and talk with a financial investor (otherwise that money would just sit there in a 1 percent interest account).
Thomas Hearns for all the millions he made and despite being a policeman around his boxing career, he DID have a lot of hanger-ons and shady individuals around him prior to fights and I can imagine at the gym.
Jin Mosley (Shane Mosley's ex) said that when she took over her husband's career (as a manager), she said she got rid of a lot of hanger-ons. That's everywhere, sadly. When people know you have money, they shamelessly come to you and try to spin the most mundane matter into a life/death struggle as to why they urgently need money...or if they're slightly less shameless, they'll ask for some money by self-appointing themselves as a towel-boy, masseuse, spit-bucket carrier, water bottle squeezer.
There was also a book I was reading not too long ago on Hearns where he ran into Hagler (after Hagler had retired and went to do movies in Italy). Supposedly Hagler was almost shocked when Tommy told him he was still fighting. Hagler suggested to do something else with his life, to get out of the game. When Tommy asked Hagler what he was doing, he told him that he was doing movies and about $175,000 each time out. Tommy supposedly shook his head, "That's not enough."
And that Marvin then went and said that it's not always about the money. Hagler was admirable. He saw boxing as strictly as a means of supplementing his income, raked in millions upon unifying all the belts and defending them, saw that he'd have to fight his way up after the loss to Leonard and politics, and just gave the sport a middle finger. Tommy unfortunately stuck around far, FAR longer than he should've.
Legacy doesn't pay the bills. Get in there, fight your ass off, make money and get out before you start to do too much damage to yourself.
Thomas Hearns did not receive the funding needed to support his boxing gym project, which reflects how even legendary athletes can struggle when trying to move into business and community development after their careers. Despite his fame and achievements in boxing, raising money for infrastructure like training facilities is often difficult without strong investor backing or consistent financial planning. Similar cases are seen across sports communities, where former champions attempt to build gyms but face funding gaps and limited sponsorship interest. More details about related boxing and financial asset contexts can be found at https://www.autobidmaster.com/en/locations/usa/texas/tx-el-paso/bank-vehicles/ showing how financial challenges affect different sectors. This situation highlights the importance of financial management beyond sports success.
These conditions boxers end up in like JL Castillo, Thomas Hearns, DeMarcus Corley, Wilfred Benítez hurts.
agree with you
Hahah typical dumb, illiterate black boy who can't comprehend and accept that his idol is just as dumb as he is.
Lol your welfare living ass has to live vicariously through Floyd! Hahah you actually think "his successes" are "YOUR successes." Truth is - Floyd will NEVER go broke like Hearns is now, or like "bum broke" LIKE YOU AND YO MOMMA, LIVIN OFF WELFARE. Hahah.
But he will be broke in that he'll eventually not be able to live the lifestyle he's accustomed to.
Sort of like Mike Tyson - he's still pretty well-off compared to most, but not hundreds of millions in the bank, shorty wot ya thank, well off..
You wrote all that about another man's finances lmao typical insecure white boy
And Floyd DID go broke back before the Marquez fight.

LAS VEGAS -- Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is being sued by a bank in Las Vegas for more than $167,000 unpaid on a loan for a half-million-dollar luxury car.
4
Caleb Langsdale, a lawyer for JP Morgan Chase Bank, said in a lawsuit filed last week in Clark County District Court that the former five-division boxing champion bought the Mercedes Maybach 57S in February 2007 and stopped making monthly payments of more than $9,000 a year later.
The bank repossessed the vehicle in January, sold it for $196,000, and is seeking to recoup the difference, the lawsuit said.
Mayweather borrowed more than $415,000 at 16 percent annual interest to buy the $528,000 sedan, according to a copy of the contract attached to the lawsuit.
A letter to Mayweather said he owed $363,000 when the car was repossessed, court documents said.
The lawsuit adds another entry on a list of debts attributed to the boxer nicknamed "Money." County records in Las Vegas show Mayweather has one unresolved lien with the Internal Revenue Service for $6.17 million in unpaid taxes from 2007. Other records show homeowners associations, the state of New Jersey and a trash collector have also claimed Mayweather did not pay bills.
#Fakenews
You ironically left the last part out lmaooo I wonder why?
Mayweather, returning to the ring after retiring last year, has said his upcoming fight is not about a big payday. His manager, Leonard Ellerbe, has disputed the documents and said he believes the public records to be inaccurate.
"I got a good relationship with the IRS, they ain't took nothing away from me," Mayweather said in a recent episode of HBO's Mayweather/Marquez 24/7, which is documenting the fighters as they prepare for Saturday's match.
During the same episode, Mayweather roller-skated through a new mansion and directly addressed the camera about his luxury lifestyle.
"We got the big boy mansion, we got Lambos, we got Rolls Royces, we got a lot of stuff, but guess what? The difference between me and everybody else -- my (stuff) is paid for, what about yours?" he said.
He probably wanted it for himself.
Hearns is one of the rudest peoples I've ever met so I have no sympathy.
A lot of people have had the same experience with him. I've heard that a lot about Hearns.

Sucks to hear. Wish boxing could do something for their vets the way other sports do for theirs
Why? Hearns earned millions through his career. Its his fault he blew it.
Hello all. First post here.Thomas Hearns was my all time favorite boxer. I was in the crowd at the Detroit Cobo Hall when he won the WBC light heavyweight title from Dennis Andries in 1987.It was a happy time for all those in attendance.I will never forget it. I also went to closed circuit locations for his fights with Hagler and Leonard II.Win or lose Tommy always went out on his shield. He was a true warrior who gave alot to the game.
Sad about his financial problems but ultimately that is his fault and sad to see he has resorted to GOFUNDME.Tommy was a boxer only and that seemingly is all he knows how to do to make a living. He isn't a magnetic personality like Ray Leonard to endorse products and cannot speak well enough to be a commentator. It seems like he is almost a forgotten man nowadays which is hard to believe. It's sad considering how great a fighter he really was and how much he gave to the sport.
In my eyes, Tommy will always be that tall fast and powerful fighter who gave it his all to bring excitement to this once great sport.Tommy made boxing better and we should all thank him for that.
Wow I met him at the Dirrell/Abraham fight and he was EXTREMELY NICE.
He took several pictures with me, shook my hand and asked if I boxed, and even asked me if I had anything I wanted him to sign (I didn't).
My mom was like "wow, what a nice guy."
Maybe he was in a good mood cause his son just won on the undercard lol..
Yeah perhaps I just caught him on bad days.
Only met him two times.
Hearns was an absolute legend, but begging on gofundme is a low point for anyone who is just short of cash.
Gofundme should be for people in real need - medical care etc would be the biggest worthy cause IMO.
If Hearns squandered his fortune and cannot find investors from within boxing then it would indicate that he is not competent handling his own money, let alone other peoples.
Maaaaaannnn Fuck Tommie Hearns!!! He threatened to whoop my ass one time. Every since then I been like FUCK TOMMIE HEARNS
I was about 19 years old. I'm working for a lawncare company (TruGreen Chemlawn). His house was on my route. When you sign up for the service they automatically renew you every year. I guess he didn't know about the service. So I'm in his yard, this is when he had a house in Southfield, spraying his backyard. He come outside and ask what I'm doing. So I tell him who I'm with and what I'm doing. He told me get out his yard before he kick my ass. I was like, FUCK YOU TOMMIE HEARNS, but I was saying that in my head. So I go to my truck and roll up my hose and he in his yard just staring at me. I was like YOU A BITCH TOMMIE HEARNS, in my head. So I got in my truck and left. Went to the gas station and changed my underwear and did the rest of my route.
FUCK TOMMIE HEARNS!!

Well...that's a shame, Hearns is one of my favorite boxers along with Nunn and Whitaker, i also heard that Whitaker was rude to his fans.
He was one of mine too. Was.
Never met Pernell but that is a shame if true.
He was a warrior and has a great legacy..surely that will pay his bill right??
Not everyone is like Floyd and has the luxury of having a great boss like Haymon
He fvcked himself..Hagler is still worth $45 million and Leonard is worth $120 million..hell Duran is still worth $3 million..fvck he do with his money?
he was too kind
“Your toys become more expensive,” he says. “You don’t buy one car, you buy a car for everyone you know. You don’t buy one home; you buy one for your mom and your brother and your sister and your girlfriend.” - Hearns
I feel sorry for the guy, kindest eyes yet had a menacing stare. Manny RIP said he was the best fighter he ever had. Just googled his net worth...$50k after what he did in the sport. Imagine if for every view of his Hagler fight that stills gets watched he got a pound he'd have millions.
