His best wins were a blown up ww and a blown up 130 fighter..He even fought bums like Robert Allen and Antwaun Echols several times, lol come on how can you slam GGG yet praise this bum slayer? who did he beat so great at 160? William Joppy?
GGG's resume is OK.
People saying it's the best in boxing or that he's "only fought bums" are equally silly.
It's solid, lots of good wins but no true elite rival.
Wow, common sense.
So true. I love how he got beat by 3 white boys after saying he would never get beat by a white boy. The Joe Smith ending to his career was amazing! A racist overrated asshat got what he deserved. I think he used PEDs with how he reacted to Pascal at the one press conference.
I lost all respect for Hopkins after he said that to Calzaghe.
He was an absolute disgrace.
ggg aint 40 yet pal
Wait...didn't most of hopkins career defining performances come after that? But yea...ggg aint having the longevity of bhop, doubtful anyway.
As always, there are people on this forum criticising the records of great boxers. One poster even held the Clinton Mitchell loss against Hopkins. You need to remember that Hopkins (unlike almost all other top boxers) had no amateur career. Mitchell was his first fight of any kind. Does anyone really think Mitchell would have beaten him after he had a couple of fights under his belt? That he managed to go 12 rounds in a competitive fight with a prime Roy Jones Jr in only his 24th fight of any kind is testament to how good he was.
There are other posters criticising both Hopkins and Golovkin for fighting "blown up welters". Do these same posters use the same reasoning with Hagler and Monzon. The best fighters Hagler fought were probably Hearns, Duran and Leonard, all of whom came up from lower weights. Similarly, some of the best fighters Monzon fought were probably Griffith and Napoles who came up from welterweight.
Let's just appreciate that Monzon, Hagler, Hopkins and Golovkin are or were great middleweight champions and we've been lucky to be able to see them fight
that is a down right lie and im not sure why people keep repeating it

His most impressive win was Tarver. Prior to that I'd say John David Jackson and Glen Johnson. I won't count the blown up WW since his fans are quick to discredit GGGs win over Brook who was a very large WW. Winky was smaller and on the downslope. He padded his record at 160 against fighters whose names have been long forgotten...Robert Allen 3x, Joe Lipsey, Steve Frank, Andrew Council, Simon Brown, Segundo Mercado 2x, Lupe Aquino, Keith Holmes, Morrade Hakkar, Carl Daniels, all during his prime. The only ones missing were Kenny Getup and Willie Last.
He lost every time he stepped up and is lauded more for his longevity than the quality of his wins. He was a dirty fighter who could really stink up the place with cheap shots, head butts and a lot of clinching. But don't tell that to his fans who were sold on him.
